Doodle Lovers Cruise******UPDATE

4 OR 5 NIGHT CRUISE - OCTOBER OF 2012  that gives you 14 months to save up.  Who has interest?  Please let us know by the end of the day on 8/16?!  We are serious about getting this thing booked.

In Laurie's blog about sleeping habits of dogs and children, I was making mention of being on a cruise - Mimi Linna made the comment that she'd love to cruise with me - and this got me thinking.  Wouldn't in be a blast to organize a cruise and have everyone who could make it from DK go?  If a spouse could come great but if not there would be some (like me) who would go solo and be willing to share a cabin.  The saddest thing would be of course no doodles on board - but I can just see us with matching DK shirts on doing the conga line through the bar.  Perhaps Flat doodle could come and the Intercourse Tee-shirt.  I know that this is something that not everyone would/could make time for or afford but would anyone have any interest if I started to gather some information?  I'm sure that once we'd get to a certain group size that there might be a group discount.  Anyone have interest?

A five night cruise in October of 2012 sounds good.  I agree that planning out that far in advance may give some a chance to save and clear their calendars.  Plus, we may be able to find some good deals.

I am all over this like white on rice.  I just found a 4-day on Carnival in October 2012 with a balcony, $359/per person or a 5-day at $449/per person from Miami.  We really need to book quickly!  Can you do an UPDATE of your post and add a Respond by date? 

 

I think we would have a blast giggling away the night planning the perfect DK wedding of Rua & Rooney!

Mimi Linna - you are correct!  You and I will also have to do the same for baby Stuart and Lilly.  Lets get you and Scott in the cabin next to ours but I don't want to "hear" anything if you get my drift!  LMAO!

I did a bit of research (and I mean a bit - just one quick look) to give people an idea of cruise costs - there is a Carnival Four Day Bahamas cruise that departs from Jacksonville, FL on October 18, 2012.  If a person shares an "interior" room, the cost is $279 per person.  Of course, exterior room and suites are more (e.g. $500-ish for a suite).  Getting to and from Florida adds to the cost.

That is a great price!!!  It you have never cruised or even if you have - and if we plan that far in advance it is extremely worth the extra money to get a room with balcony.  You can watch the islands slide past as you pull into port - as you sit sipping coffee that the cabin boy has brought you!       Four days is pretty short though - the first day is a long one with check in, etc.  but this does give us some idea of cost.

I'm in!!!  I'd be traveling with my friend (a doodle lover, but not a doodle owner) so count me as 2.  We'd definitely opt for either a balcony room or even a suite (if it's not too much more expensive).

My friend is also my business partner (and before going into business, we taught together for 18 years).  We have discovered that in this relationship, I am definitely the "alpha" dog - so she'll like it if I do.  Ha Ha!!!

 

Anyhow - I checked it out.  Looks like a good itinerary.  I've been to Half Moon Cay, but not to Grand Turk or Nassau.  Half Moon Cay is a tiny private island owned by the parent company of Carnival, Holland America, etc.  It has a beach for lounging around and offers various shore excursion activities such as snorkeling and jet skiing.  My husband and I did a jet ski activity when we were there - SO MUCH FUN!!!

 

I'm getting excited about this - both cruising and meeting you all face to face.
