"Madonna of the Mills" focuses on the activities of Laura, a New York woman who has devoted the last several years to rescuing breeding dogs who are no longer of value to the many Amish and Mennonite puppy millers in Lancaster County, Penn.

This is where Mickey came from. Charli and Samantha came from PMs too. This will be incredibly hard to watch but we all must. We need to educate everyone about PMs. They are all over the country, not just PA!

I don't think that we get HBO but I'll check.  I'd like to watch it but then again sometimes when it is so disturbing - it actually can make me sick.

I am so relieved to hear that HBO is taking this on!!! Maybe if enough people watch it could start the ball rolling and make change.

Thanks for the post.  We don't get HBO, but I'll have to see if one of my friends does.  Although I am not sure I would want to watch this with other people in the room...the ASPCA comercials make me want to cry, this will probably be much worse!  It is just so hard to see what cruel things people are capable of.

The key to watching this kind of documentary is to be inspired by the people like Laura who are working to put an end to the mills. There is hope to be found in this story, and the more people who watch and spread the word, the brighter the future will be for the dogs.

I can't even read fictional stories if animals or children and bad stuff is involved - it gives me nightmares for a long time.  We need to watch this stuff though so we are truly educated, disgusted and sick, and inspired by people who work miracles.  I cry at the ASPCA commercials and my DH is such a softie, he can't even watch them.  I don't get HBO, but I am broadcasting the scheduled airings to all of the people I know who might have it so they can watch it and  save it for me.

So sad it's only available to the limited HBO audience.   Hopefully this will become available by another means.   I'll be looking for it in the future.  No HBO here.  : (     Thanks for the "heads up".
