Teddy came home yesterday and did great for his first day. He mostly slept on the car ride home and definitely recognized me when we went to the breeder (i met him during temperament testing a few weeks ago.)
He slept through the night and woke up at 5am whining/crying. I took him out to go to the bathroom, and then when we brought him back in, he was letting out the worst shreiking noise when we put him back in the crate. He had his snugglepup (rubbed on his brothers), chew toy, and my t-shirt. None of this work. Eventually we had to move him to the bed where he slept for another 3 1/2 hours straight very calmly.
Today i left him in his exercise pen with his crate attached, toys, snugglepup, my shirt, food, puppy pads. I came back to him whining. If i am in his visibility, he whines at the top of his lungs. Even if he isnt in his pen and is walking around my room. If i dont give him attention he cries.
I just put him in his crate...he slept for about 15 minutes and has been crying for the last 20 minutes. Does anyone have any advice on the crying/whining? Any and all advice is helpful. I've gone through books and other threads and have tried a lot of things. Not sure what to do now.
Thanks,

THanks everyone for your amazing insight. A lot of it has been really helpful. I think he has this fear that he goes in the pen when im leaving and is still traumatized from being taken away from his litter. Crate training is going a little better and i think the music is helping.
i am still not sure how to get rid of the constant crying/whining when he isin the crate and pen. He is in his crate right now and hasbeen quiet for 5 minutes. I am assuming as soon as he gets over his toys, he will start crying again. We are trying to do 20 minute increments.
I'm just going to call this thread the Please Help Mona thread.
I started the coins in a can and say HUSH really loud...it worked REALLY well.
New Problem: Teddy will not walk with a leash. he will plant his feet and you have to drag him. I've tried enticing him with treats and toys to no avail. advice?
Just wanted to give everyone a Teddy update. Thank you for your advice. He has become very accustomed to his leash. When i would take him around the neighborhood( i have to carry him as i live in San Francisco, and he does not have all his shots), i would put his leash on him , but tie it up to keep it out of the way. He is now comfortable and walks with it.
Also, He still whines to get out of his ex-pen if he has been in for a long time or has to go to the bathroom, but he has gotten much better. I am going to Tahoe this weekend, so my boyfriend packed up Teddy's pen. So far, he has played in his "corner" all morning and is now sleeping in his crate with the door open. We taught him a game called "go home" where i say "go home teddy," and he runs into his crate and gets a treat. Also, i put his doggy bed in his crate that he came home from the breeder in. he LOVES it. Thanks everyone!
