Hoping I can get a bit of help.

My golden doodle, Maggie, is tearing apart all of her toys.  I have had to take away all of the stuffed animals because she wants to shred them and eat them.

I have purchased her some kongs and a couple nylabones.  She will chew on the nylabones, but can't be bothered too much with the kongs.

Any other toys out there that will stand up to a chewer!

thanks in advance for the help!!!!

Stuffed animals are usually poor chew toys as they aren't designed to be chew toys except for those very dainty nibblers :)  I'm sure others will give you loads of fun ideas, but at our house we pretty much stick to the toughest nylabones and real sterilized bones.  We also love the rubber Chuk-it balls...they chew them like a giant wad of gum and don't destroy them.  As to Kongs...I find them worthless unless they are stuffed with food/treats.  Out of 4 dogs I've lived with NONE Were interested in Kongs as a toy...only as food container.

Just this morning I watched this video and I posted that the next time someone posted looking for good chew toys to get the energy out of their puppies I was going to post this link.  This is one of the cutest videos I've seen in a long time!  Here you go:

Lucy, I was reading replies to Amy's post about tearing apart toys when I came across your video about best friends.  I am a third grade teacher ( was reading DK during lunch-break!) and watched your video.  It is adorable!  Showed it to my class as a spring-board discussion about how we treat our classroom friends.  Students loved it!  Thanks, heaps!
I have two agressive chewers and have been thru just about every "non-distructable" toy out there.  What my doodles love are the antlers, they are indistructbale and provide hours and hours of chewing time and worth every penny.  I bought a bag of them on line that will probably last the next 20 years -LOL   I did not believe they were that strong because I fell for every gimic out there that certain toys were indistructable so I bought the whole bag (maybe 15 pcs.).  Just a note.... when I by any animal product for my dogs to enjoy I always make sure that it is from cattle or pig here in the US, never buy any product made in China or South America they do not have as many strict regulations as we do.  Also try bully Sticks, they do not last long but it will take about an hour for my dogs to chew thru them.

Thank you!  I agree, she will play with the Kong only when it is stuffed with frozen ricotta!  I use to have labs who just loved to cuddle with there stuffed friends.  Maggie, is just set on killing them.  I will try with stuffed toys when she is a bit older.

I just ordered an antler bone from Antlers Pantry...ordered the whole type...hoping that will work.  I have heard bully sticks are messy and smelly.

Thanks.

If you do bullysticks look for Odor free ones.
Only one time I got a "stinky" bully stick. I made the mistake of letting them chew them in the living room -OMG the house stunk !!! I read somewhere that to keep them fresh as soon as you buy them put them in the freezer, I usually buy 4 at a time. I do that now and no problem with the smell. As far as the mess goes - what mess? they chew them until they are gone which is about a hour.

Peri is a chewer - we do not have ANY stuffed toys in the house - it is like flushing $$ down a toilet.

We have deer and elk antlers for Peri (www.antlerpantry.com)

We also like the Orbee bones - sometimes I stick Peanut b. in the holes and they keep Peri occupied for at least 30minutes (see photo below).  Also the West Paw brand has good toys for big chewers!

Teddy loves antlers! I got him the half antlers from Antler Pantry. I got three of them and he's had them for a couple of months and hasn't finished one yet! He also enjoys playing with his Kong ball: http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2750610&lmd... He has two of the puppy ones. We used to feed him out of them, but now he just likes playing with them and chewing on them. In addition to those toys he has a white Nylabone which he loves. He had a kong stick (I can't find a link to it) that lasted a couple of weeks. It squeeked and he loved it, but he bit the end off.

Thanks Everyone for such great information.  Off to shop!!!

Antler just arrived...she is loving it!    West paw was one of the places I was going to try.

Thanks again.

Amy

My frenchies are power chewers and the only thing that seems to work for them that keeps them happy are Nylabones (the ones for aggressive chewers). If you saw the bones in my house you would think I had wolves!. You do have to watch the ends of them because they can chew off the nubs or chew down the ends so that pieces could break off. I inspect them about once a week and clip or file off the questionable areas. I have not tried antlers????

Interestingly they have been respecting Zach's stuffies - his stuffies are now 3 weeks old and are still "alive". Prior to this no stuffy has lived beyond  24 hours.

I see you mention deer antlers. I had one at the counter with a puppy Kong and puppy Kong treats and the clerk told me they were too sharp for puppies and to wait. So I told her to keep it and saved myself $12.00. Was she right?
