Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Back by popular demand we are doing calendar photos this month. This should give us plenty of time to get photos, critique them,  and in general try to help each other in this tough competition : ) I am copying some of Adina's past guidelines so you will have an idea of what's acceptable, assuming they will remain the same. I will also track down some of the back and forth we had about what's she looking for as far as content when I get a chance. Please only post photos that meet the minimal guidelines. We should all try to be honest in our comments. Sometimes I think we try to be nice , always a good thing, but avoid helpful criticism , which can also be a good thing. In this instance helpful criticism is to be encouraged I think.

Update: Adina's Guidelines

Update: 2011 Calendar Submission announcement

Update:  This assignment is going to continue for the month of September

For those of you asking about cameras and editing, this was taken with my Nikon D90, and I did barely any editing. See, no snow on Calla's nose

The original:

My submission, later cropped a bit more for the 2011 labradoodle calendar cover:

Update: Here are some more discussions that may give you more ideas of what Adina prefers. You have to wade through them.

***** If you crop, and you should only do this judiciously, the photos need a MINIMUM of 1800 x 2300 pixels when Adina submits them. It's better to leave a margin for error, Adina can fiddle with the size if she loves your picture and needs to crop a little.

I did some cloning to the image. Not sure if it's too obvious or not.

Good job Camilla. I just don't think this is the most flattering image of this doodle.
Amy you and your 10 year old took some good photos. In photos 1, 3 and 4 you guys did a really good job of capturing the eyes which can be difficult to do on dark colored doodles. Also your focus is good it is on Kokomo's face. Some calendar considerations the first one is in a portrait format, landscape is what the full page photos will be. Also Adina mentioned that the program that makes the calendars can chop off some of the top and bottom of the photo so some of Kokomo's head might get cut off. Mike
Thanks Mike!  I appreciate the feedback and will keep trying to get the 'perfect' shot. :-)
I like photos 3 and 4...they're great! The dog enjoying the ball is my favorite of all though!
A couple more pics, I know he has a halo on the second one but if you think it would be a good calendar shot I will go back and do my best to fix it, I also know you can see it's not perfect where I had to make his leash dissappear but before I put the work into it I just wanted your thoughts. I don't know how to bring out his eyes which would make that second pic so much better.
I LOVE both. They are so gorgeous.
These are very beautiful. Yes, the halo can go. Also, the wisp of plant to the left of Quincy's face in the first one.
They are both lovely, but the second one is extra special. I would submit it.
Donna I really like both photos.  I think I might slightly favor the first due to the colorfulness.  Well done. Mike
Here are a few more pictures, my DD took this weekend of Fudge and Vern. Let me know what you think. Thank you!
I like this one of Vern..cute!
