Having just attended the funeral services of a soldier this summer, I cannot even imagine how I would have reacted if I encountered this scene.  It was the hardest thing I have ever done in my entire life, but this might have put me over the edge!

I feel so sad for that dog.  J.T.'s family, while devastated by his loss, at least understands what has happened.  His loyal dog does not.  I hope there are 'grief' counselors in the Navy for the dogs left behind.
I definitely did not need to look at that this morning..
Oh how sweet and sad that is.
I find these stories so moving. The whole idea of all these young people dying is awful. But the dog's lying by the casket is simply painful to me.
Heartbreaking yet heartwarming at the same time...
How incredibly sad.  I truly do have the faith that they will be together again one day.  It is amazing how loyal and loving dogs really are.  If everyone realized this maybe so many wouldn't be in shelters :-(
What a tragedy and so very sad.

I also had tears to my eyes, I pray for the family, and I would of been over the edge  I know I would.

I am proud of my son who is serving in the United STates Army   God Bless America !

Wow, Tears in my eyes and goose bumps!!!!
Omg! I feel like I want to cry. :(
That is truly touching, and so sad.

Last Friday was a sad day for many in Rockford, Iowa.  I personally did not know JT but my in-laws and a few friends did.  From all the stories I have heard recently it would have meant a lot to him that strangers cared so much about Hawkeye.  I would like to think someday they will meet again.  Here is a picture of them together.
