Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Hello.
Maggie has been with us for a month now. She is 10 months this week. I have an appt with our groomer for this Friday, and I am so unsure of what I am to ask for etc. She is my first doodle.
Her hair is more straight with a wave, and she doesn't have too much of it: it is somewhat thin.
I would love to get some advice of what you think I should do for her on Friday. My husband does prefer the shaggy look. Her hair is currently about 3" long.
Advice/suggestions are greatly appreciated. Just not sure what I should ask and suggest to my groomer. I was thinking maybe just getting a trim for her face, ears, sanitary areas???
Thanks
AMY

Hi Amy,
I would just get her used to the groomer and maybe just get a bath and a slight trim of the paws and sani areas. It can be pretty tramatic for them, going to the groomer having both a bath and a trim. So I would recommend starting slow. Get his paws clipped get the sani areas trimmed and a bath. Otherwise, you might have one stressed out dood. I say this, wishing someone had given me the same advice. My first grooming experience was not very good... Best of luck! Post pics too!
I can send you a pic if you send me an email info@gemstonelabradoodles.ca
Thanks for the suggestions.
Barb: I just sent you an email.
Thank You!!

UUUGGGHHHH!!!
Maggie got a slight trim and my groomer HACKED her face. I told her to leave her shaggy and to just trim sanitary, feet, and a tiny bit off her beard. She took off her brows and cut her ears straight across. I WANTED TO CRY!!!
I may never get her cut again.
I know it grows back, but I seriously could have done a better job myself.
Why of why dont' people listen......
Amy
Amy,
I had the same experience! I did cry.. a lot! The groomer shaved him around his eyes, It was just so sad. My doodle looked like he was in a constant state of surprise! They gave him poodle feet too! Horrible! But it will grow back so try not to be too upset. The DKer's I talked to said to bring pictures of exactly what you want next time...or maybe go to a different groomer.. I hope you and your foodle will be ok.
I totally sympathize,
Jayd
Alot of the DKer's here groom there own dogs because it's hard to find someone that will do it exactly like you want. I'm too chicken to try it myself. but there are plenty of people here that will guide you in the cutting process. Good luck and I'm so sorry you had a bad 1st experience. But on the bright side you now know what you absolutely don't want. I'm sure that doesn't make it better but there have been so many of us that know how you feel.
