We had torrential rain all night and now it's merely raining. The electricity just wavered but remained on. No trees down although I heard things hitting the roof. The basement has a couple of inches of water. They say the rivers will crest and flood in the coming days. The reverse 911 warned us to stay off town roads which are flooded. It could have been much worse here and I hope everyone fared as well.

My biggest fear was getting the dogs out but Luca decided that about 5:30 pm last night was enough til 10:30 today. Then he was carrying on around the shed where the woodchucks live. Could they have climbed up inside or on the vines? I'm sure the burrow is flooded and he was barking towards the roof of the shed. I had to "lasso" him and bring him in. I was afraid he could get into the brook if the fence was weakened.

The brook behind my house is a raging torrent with white water. In places the yard slants, thankfully, toward the brook and I felt water running through my crocs. Let us know how you are when you can.

Glad all is well with Jane--we are without hot water, but the power (which went off at 8 last night) is now back on and the sump pumps are going again. Hubby is working on arranging the driveway repair--but we have a neighbor who shares the driveway and will share costs. I don't think FEMA helps with that sort of thing--if we even qualify for FEMA.

Luckily, the sump pumps were not as necessary when the power went out but we already had three feet of water in the basement when them running earlier in the day, so the damage was already done.

Ginny, I'm so happy that at least now you have your power.  Can you get in and out of your driveway?
Glad you are safe and still above water Ginny. Well at least the top floors! :( Hope things get back to normal for you soon!

Hi Ginny...

I'm so glad that you have power now...and the sump pumps are going!

Let's hope they get the water out of there...and fast!!

So sorry for all of the damage that was done.

Great to know of the relative calm and that you are all ok. Phew.... Thank goodness that you have a generator too..

We took to boys down to take a look at our main gate this morning (the only way in or out of here).  We are still on "Gilligan's Island" at least for now.  Here's what it looks like...

The boys were VERY happy to be able to get out after two days of "house arrest".  Here are my "smiley face Doods".

OMD, that's a lot of water! At least the sun is shining.

G & M do look very happy!

AWWWW-they are happy and CUTE AS HECK! That's a lot of water.
Jane, I'm so glad to hear that things have stabilized at your place and you are all safe! That is an amazing amount of water! It's nice to see the doods smiling-hope you are too!
All this and have you seen such a beautiful day in along time? Two doodles smiling in one picture, truly a miracle. Hope the water recedes soon.
AWW they look so cute.

OMD - well at least it's just an adventure and not a tragedy.

They truly are smiling aren't they. It's hard to believe that Murphy was ever anything but perfect, just look at him, and then there is his mini me that is just as adorable.

:o) Thanks for this Jane!
