STUPID CHOW CHOW JUST ATTACKED MY DOODLE BABY!!!

I HATE Stupid dog owners!!! HATE THEM!!!

 

Why would anyone bring a dog to a dog park if they know they have aggression issues?? It was apparantly the first thing this stupid woman said to some of the owners when she came in "my dog is sometimes aggressive with smaller dogs so be careful". SERIOUSLY??

 

So why then, when her dog is attacking my dog does she not get up, put out her cigarette, and pull her dog away? heaven forbid.

 

I don't really remember a whole lot about what happened, but I can still hear my baby squealing and don't know if I'll ever get that sound out of my head. Lucky for her my instincts were quick enough and her skin was not broken by any of the bites. It was certainly nowhere near as a bad as if it were an aggressive pit bull, but still, it was a very terrifying few minutes. Half the other owners in the dog park were in there pulling dogs away, and I had Sophie in my arms before the owner decided to get up and come over. Her dog kept jumping up and biting Sophie's legs trying to pull her back down, each time sophie crying out. Someone finally pulled the dog away, and that's when the owner the decided maybe she should react and take her dog away. I saw her leaving as we were checking Sophie over for any injuries. In then end I think I was far more shaken then she was (thank goodness).

 

Are there laws about stuff like this?? Isn't she obligated to keep her dog under control?? Can't she be fined??

 

In all the chaos I don't really remember much of what happened because of all the adrenalin rushing through me. All I know is my poor doodle wouldn't leave my side or interact with any other dog for a while. I wanted to make sure we left on a positive note so I tried to get her to play again. It wasn't until her friends Abe and Rufus came in about 15 minutes later that she finally started to perk up. That's when Abe's owner pointed out that I was bleeding. I guess with all the adrenalin I hadn't even felt the bite. At some point my left hand got bitten and my arm is badly scratched up. I have no idea if it was the aggressive dog, or one of the other dogs, or even my own.

 

Anyway, I'm ok, and so is my precious SophieBear, thank goodness. But what an ordeal. I'm still shaken an upset. Even though I've been awol from DK for a few weeks it was the first place I came to share my story and vent. Thanks for reading my ramble!

It's these dogs and their owners that ruin it for everyone.  This is why dog parks scare me....too unpredictable with too many owners who are just clueless.  I'm just glad that Sophie Bear is okay....take care of that bite yourself.

yea, I guess it is a 'use at your own risk' kind of place. I wish I had my own pack of doodles and giant back yard, but unfortunately, the dog park is the best option for exercise and socialization (for both of us). this has never happened before, most of the dogs and owners are so nice...

Okay, this is my worst nightmare!! I'm SO sorry!! I'm glad SophieBear's friends were there to help her get past her fear and that she wasn't wounded. I would think that the least the woman could have done was to stay and make sure that SophieBear was not injured by her dog! If that had been the case she would have been responsible for any bills accrued for her recovery! She and her dog should be banned from the park. She is so irresponsible in SO many ways!  Hope your hand recovers quickly! Hugs to both of you!

I dislike dog parks for this reason among others. If can figure out who this woman is report her to animal control, the park personnel and whoever else comes to mind. This is not only a stupid woman, she is negligent and cruel. I would assume the chow bit you and report that too. I hope you and Sophie quickly recover.

I am so sorry. Jack was attacked by a dog when we were walking and that horrid scream Jack made will never leave my head ever..... It took that dog coming after Jack three times for the dog to be removed from the owners.. It was horrible...

 

I am glad your sweet baby girl is okay. I would report it to the animal control a human bite is considered way more serious that a dog to dog bite

YIKES!  We have loved dog parks for so long until things just started getting out of hand.  It's just too stressful! I'm so sorry. I'm glad your baby is okay and I hope you get your arm taken care of!

You definitely need to make a report!!! Poor baby and Mamma!!! I have this dog that keeps crashing out of its door anytime a dog passes in front of his house. I carry a miniature  bat with me. I have never used it, but this dog has gone after children as well. I thought of pepper spray, but was then concerned about it getting into Amante's eyes. He comes running out of his house  like he is possesed! He has bitten me when I tried to protect my Shih tzu from him a few years back. Animal control has been out to talk to the owner, we just hear next time, next time blah blah blah!!

IT'S those dog owners that ruin it for everyone else!!

We have a few off leash dogs in our neighborhood that come running out at us (big dogs) When we were at Menards I found a little alarm that you take walking/jogging/shopping it has a wrist strap and a belt clip and you pull the end out if you are in danger and it has a high 60 decible alrm that goes off to scare them away. $4.99

So sorry this happened but glad to hear that you and Sophie are fine. I cannot imagine being so irresponsible as to walk away without checking to make sure you and Sophie were ok. We don't do dog parks for that reason, I know if Quincy was ever attacked I would be in the middle of it. I am an act first, think later kind of person.

STUPID CHOW AND EVEN MORE STUPID OWNER...  My heart bleeds for you and your poor dog. Owners have the feduciary responsibility to know their dog's personalities and to monitor their dogs so that incidents like this do not happen.  If you could have learned the name of the owner and reported her to animal control it might (or might not depending on the organization) have prevented a reoccurance of this type of behavior.

 

My former dog, a Springer Spaniel, was attacked by a pit bull just as we were getting out of my car.  I had on a pair of high military boots and kicked the pit bull so hard and so long that my foot was bruised from toe to ankle.  It didn't faze that dog.  I reached down to grab the pit bull's collar and it turned and laid open my hand but, that gave my spaniel time to jump back into my car.  I swung the pit bull into a garage door and ran back to the car myself.

 

The pit began attacking my car and I had my keys in the front pocket of my jeans.  With my chewed up hand, I had a hard time getting the keys out.  When I finally started the car, the pit was right in front of the car.  That is the only time in my life that I could have killed any dog but, I stalled out the car and the pit was finally gone by the time I started it again.

 

I have never seen such singularity of purpose in any dog as in that pit bull's aggression.  Nothing fazed it!

 

Both my dog and I recovered physically but, emotionally we were both scarred.  It was a long while before I felt comfortable walking her and she never let a dog sniff her hind quarters because that is where the pit bull nailed her...

 

Oh by the way, the owners had no money and it was not worth suing them but, I did report them to animal control.  I really didn't follow the rest of the legal formalities...
