Can I get a 1/2inch steel comb to fit on an Andis #40 blade??
I have the Andis 2-speed clippers and bought them with a set of plastic combs. After some experimenting, I found that the Andis #40 blase works best on Chases coat. In the summer, I take him down quite short using the 1/2inch comb and #40 blade. I went to Rens Pets Depot while I was down near their store (about 3 1/2 hours away from where I live) looking for steel combs to fit my clippers. On the advice of the staff there, I purchased a Wahl 1/2 inch comb - they told me it was a universal fit and would work with my Andis clippers and blades. After trying to use it I found that it is not compatible with my #40 blade, infact it has broken the teeth of the blade because it is a poor fit. So, my question is, does anyone know if Andis make a 1/2 inch steel comb that would work on a #40 blade?? And where can I get one?? I did get back in touch with Rens and they were wholly unhelpful, which is disappointing given that I bought the Wahl comb on their advice. But I knew you guys might have the answer!!

I would go to the Andis 5/8 or 3/4 solid blade and forget the comb attachments. That would work better on the dogs I have.

Yep, it broke the teeth off my blade! The guy at Rens said I should buy a Wahl 30, that it is the same as an Andis 40 and that the comb will fit it. I just looked on the website and it says that the Wahl blade is not compatible with my Andis clippers - aarrgghh!! Note to self- don't buy from Rens anymore!
