I do not want to give my new Dood any rawhide or pig ears. Haus, my German Shepherd of 12 years used to chew rawhide and pig ears and seemed to be a member of the clean plate club b/c he would try to swallow the remaining chunk and I would have to fish it out of his throat. Ewwwwww.

So I ask...

What are some good alternatives to rawhide and pig ears?

Also I should add that I am looking for only 100% USA made products.

Any suggestions?

Antlers.  Many members get them on line from the antler pantry.  More expensive than rawhides, but last a long time and do not splinter.
My DH said the vet said they see a lot of dogs break teeth on these. Do you think this is true?

To me they seem to have more "give" than a shin bone.  We have never had a problem, but Gavin used to like to chew rocks (thankfully that stage passed).

Good to hear-I may slip some in their Xmas stocking!!! DH will be not so happy but they will love them!
Sadie is not so interested in her antler, actually. Luckily it wasn't very expensive. But she does LOVE beef tracheas and beef ligaments, bully sticks (especially the curly and braided varieties) and her new Himalayan chew. She hasn't had any stomach issues from any of these.
I love antlers for a chew toy. I get them from Antlerpantry.com and Linda is great! She give me extra tough ones because I have two aggressive chewers. They are shed antlers, all USA.

Bully sticks are always a good alternative. Sam's Yams also makes a "veggie alternative" to rawhide - dehydrated sweet potatoes. They come in several size, but for larger dogs I prefer "Big Boys." They are LARGE thick slices of dehydrated sweet potato. Nothing more. So if your dogs have food allergies, you don't have to worry. :-)

We've found deer antlers to be a WONDERFUL way to satisfy their chewing needs!!! Mounds has them and they last FOREVER! I had to take Lexi's away today before she took it outside with her! LOL
R&B like marrow bones, or kongs with treats stuffed in them.  I do give them an occasional rawhide and haven't had any issues...
Mine love the yak chews but honestly Kona can finish one is 15 minutes. :o(  They are great for puppies or smaller dogs. My two are BIG and have the jaws of life in their mouths.
antlers, bully sticks, bones (raw and smoked, but not cooked), rope toys, nylabones

Antlers and Bully sticks and Sam's Yams and Yak chews - I will check all of these out.

The Antlers are shed antlers, yes? Like, deer are not killed for this purpose, are they?

Thanks guys!!!
