I take Lucy and Ethel Mae to the care home to visit my dad, who is in the last stage of Alzheimer's.  He just lights up when they are there.  It was good to see him smile and laugh when Ethel jumped on on him, as we don't see much of that anymore.

Awesome! It looks like they are both smiling!!
How sweet...they are BOTH smiling.
What a wonderful picture!  This sure looks like a man who is feeling real happiness!  What a "keeper!"
This is wonderful.  Gotta love these doodles.
Beautiful picture.  I am so sorry to hear about your dad.  I know its a difficult road.  Good for you that you can relate together through the dogs.
AAAwwww That is so sweet.  I brought Hunter to see my dad when he was in hospice.  Doodles have their special way of warming your heart.
Oh that's a picture to treasure. Very nice!
I know just what you mean. I went through this with my mom. My son could ruffle her hair and we'd get a big smile. One time I asked someone visiting with a baby to come into her room and she spoke her first words in ages and they were so appropriate, "Oh, she's adorable". Lovely photo.
F, My dad can say a few words, however they are never appropriate or fit the conversation.  When Ethel jumped on his lap he said "Well, how are you?"  Brings a tear to my eye just thinking about it.
The comment to Ethel sounds perfect to me.
This is a great picture - and one I'm sure you'll treasure long after your dad leaves this earth.  One of my favorite pictures - one that I've posted here on DK in the past - is of my dad with baby Sedona.  She's trying to give him a kiss and he's laughing.  My dad passed away just over a year ago and I miss him terribly, but that picture always bring a big smile to my face.

This picture is about 2 years old, when we first brought Lucy to meet grandpa.  As he was holding her he asked "Can I have one of these?"
