Murphy - Healing by second intention

Murphy is moving along.  He had radiation on Wednesday on his nose. The other black "freckles" were radiated also. I am very pleased about that. The whitish area is where the melanoma was,

 

 

 

 After our visit to our vet, we are going to let the wound close by itself. Dr. Mac

said she could clean it up and resuture it one more time but it was trying to close on its own. Besides, Murph Man would just rip it open again. So true. 

The vet school did some heavy shaving on the leg so he looks poodle-ish.

After he chewed the sutures out he got staples.

The first leg picture was taken today.

Everything is certainly sounding good, and I am sure from what you are saying looking a lot better.....yucky but necessary right?!

You're on your way.  Good job, you two!  What is your next step with the radiation?  Will there be ongoing treatments?  How long do  staples usually stay in?  I would think, as you said, that it was a good idea to radiate those other black freckles.   Did those just appear on Murphy's nose, or were they there all along?

Ellen, no more radiation for the moment. I will watch carefully. The freckles just sort of appeared. These are all very smooth. The melanoma was slightly raised, dry, rough, almost like something was stuck on his nose. Or like a raised flat wart. The key, for me, was that it was rough.
