For anyone who would like to join us in an October project on learning photo editing. Amazon is offering PhotoShop Elements 9 for $59 now, after a rebate.

Many of us have PSE9 and this will be the standard editor but abyone can join the ?fun no matter how you edit. But if you want tips and how to advice etc. this will be the way to go, I think. Not enough people have Macs, and I for one refuse another learning curve, so Aperture, Which Mike and Ann use will be not as useful unless you just want to show off edits : ) An new version of PSE will be out in a few days but from what I understand it will have few major changes. Still you may want to go that route. I'm still thinking of how to best go about this so any input is appreciated.

Another idea. I have been using Dropbox, which is a place to store and share photos "in the cloud". I'm sure all of you know about cloud computing where info is stored online. If any of you want, send me a private message with your email and I'll invite you to join Dropbox. You can, of course, join on our own, but I'd still need an email to share a communal folder with you.

Full disclosure, you get extra storage for people who join when you've invited them. Since I have 4 GB, I'm OK. My son the programmer, told me about it and he would not steer his mom wrong. The logo remains on your desktop and you can access shared folders. You can access Dropbox from any of your computers, or someone else's, your phone etc. It is one way of keeping precious photos from being lost in a crash. I do not store important, personal documents on it to date. Every folder that you have can be shared with no one or everyone. That way if we have a Photo Editing folder for us, we could all work on the same photo at times. Any photos uploaded to DK are reduced and therefore are not ideal for editing but OK for just viewing. It's much easier I think than trying to attach photos individually in email. It's great for things like sending all your vacation photos to a relative, for example.
