Habitat for Humanity - Restore

Most if you guys may be familiar with the organization " Habitat for Humanity". it is a volunteer organization that re-build and build simple and affortable home to the families, while revitalizing the community. http://www.habitat.org/how/factsheet.aspx

Local Habitat for Humanity open the store called "Restore" here in Pittsburgh! They sell reusable building structures like doors and windows as well as furnitures and other materials like tiles. http://www.habitat.org/restores/ The store is run by volunteers so the hours are odd and you have to make a point to get there. However, I had visited them twice and did some treasure hunting. The followings are my treasures that I found.

 

* Antique wood shutters for my windows  Various sizes, 14 of them ------$55.00

* Antique roll top desk with many interesting secret compartments ------ $47.00

* Antique wooden roll a chair w/ leather seat & back rest  --------------------$10.00

 

I am so excited! I will be visiting them more often!!

There is a Restore in the small town near me.  I haven't found any treasures there yet but have donated a washer, dryer and gas range, all in working order.  The other day myDH went to the drive thru teller at the bank across the street from the Restore and the pickup truck in front of him had in the back what appeared to be the washer I donated!

Good stuff!!  I love that store!! They had some brand new stuff in the box as well...
