Hi everyone, well... I took your advice and didn't give up!  I tried my hand at grooming again!  This time she looks better!  I did take her really short this time... But, her coat grows back SOOO fast it will be long again in no time.  I spent about 3 hours yesterday with clippers and scissors.  I have a few spots that need to be cleaned up... mostly around her paws and face.  But for the most part I think she looks pretty good.  Definately worth the savings!  Oh yea.... I used our people clippers on her!  WOW!  What a difference.  Those work much better than the dog clippers I had bought.  =)  Here is the after result....

On another note... I think my dog is turning silver!!!!  She has a spot on her tail and a couple of spots on her ears.  I'm not sure how I feel about this!

I think you did a great job Stacy !!!!!!! :-)

Well, she looks like a perfect labradoodle to me!  Great job, Stacy!

She looks great - keep up the great work

Yeah!  Glad you are still working on your grooming skills.  It DOES get easier each time you give it a try, and it is definitely cost effective, besides building your relationship with the dog.

By the way, I am starting to do the cording on my ALD today.  I am giving myself a week to get the first job completed and then I will post photos.  We have been grooming our poodles and doodles for 30 years, so we have a little experience behind us, but this is the first attempt at cording.  Our ALD has the perfect coat for it, so I will see how it goes.

Thanks everyone!  Lynda.... can't wait to see how the cording goes!!!!
Slowly!  I got his stomach shaved and his face trimmed back a little today.  Then I did his back with pulling out the matts and gave him a bath.  I am going to work on different parts this week.  We will see how it goes.
Here he is all wet from his bath.  THe hair is getting long enough to cord, but the mats have to be pulled down (or up) depending of where the main part of the mat is located.
What a sad little face, but he stood still for the pulling of the mats for a couple of hours.  He is really being good for a first time at trying cording.
Morning after when he has dried.  Lots of curls but a long way to go yet.
Wow, his coat looks just like my GD Paddy's!  I'll be eager to see how the cording goes, although it sounds like a lot of work, and I'm concerned about how long it will take to dry once corded.
GREAT JOB!  She looks wonderful.  I have finally decided it does not really matter what color our doodles are as puppies because they very likely will NOT be that color forever.
Great job. I'll be over to your house.
