Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I have had Dogs that should want to hunt all my life...the last 3 didnt care about animals in the yard...They just looked to see if there was any food in the yard!...under the bird feeder...
Trixie is so different & fun to watch her when she goes out...Nose to the ground to track the squirrels.
She even jumps up with her front paws on the tree to look up it for squirrels...I know thats not unique...but it is in my yard!
Yesterday though when my dd & I let her out...She was more then excited & she tried to litterally jump up the tree Trunk! Leaping off her 2 back legs. I stopped her..But it was a little too late...We thought she hurt her mouth the way she hit the tree (and she could have still with no evidence showing)
But this morning she has a Pink/purple Eye lid : (
She will survive...But I feel bad for her.
I really hope she does not do that again.

I am reading the new book about Rin Tin Tin (it is by Susan Orlean who lives around here and it is a good book). Apparently, Rin Tin Tin could climb trees to go after something and other dogs can too from what I have read. So, maybe Trixie will get the hang of it! Or maybe just more black eyes...ouch!
By the way, my smallest doodle Mattie has caught and eaten two squirrels and a rabbit, so don't underestimate Trixie's prey drive! We have an "uneducated" squirrel hanging out in the yard lately--all the others are either dead or know better--I hope Mattie doesn't get it!
Oh Trixie, Silly Doodle, Tree Climbing is for Monkeys and Squirrels!
I hope her eye is back to normal soon and that she has learned that doodle paws are meant to be on the ground :)
