Do I board Amante or not?

Every year my husband and I have a loud, house filled Adult only Halloween Party. 75 to 100 people. This will be the first year that I have Amante. I am considering boarding him for the night. First, because I want him to get used to being boarded. Second, certain people invited have no self control and become stupid for lack of better word. I worry that whether I crate him or "hide" him in another room it will be a long night and some persons who shall remain nameless( DH relatives) will be letting him out and I am afraid he will get out of house and worse. I think I will be more relaxed if I know he is safe. My DH wants to show him off, usually our dog is part of our costume. Should I board him or just show him off all night and crate him in between his appearances??

75-100 people sounds like someone will be feeding him scraps of food and unless he is used to this many people he may be scared.  I would imagine some of your friends will have scary costumes, my dog would be uncomfortable. Do you have a neighbor or friend who will not be attending your party so they could smother him with love for the night?

I think this is the pefect time to find the right kennel or dog sitter (in their home).  A one night trial stay can't hurt and will give you confidence for when the time comes that he might need to stay longer.  That large of a crowd - I'd want him away and safe - too much could happen; gets let outside, people feeding him food, giving him drinks, hot cigarette butts to step on, scary costumes, extra traffic.  Why take the risk?

I would board him for sure.  Even when I have 20 people over, I put Peri and TAquito in "their" room.  Too many people makes it easier for them to get out, Taquito to eat stuff he shouldn't eat, etc....

I think he will be happier being boarded rather than in the midst of all this commotion, and you can relax and enjoy yourself.  Maybe it you present it to DH as the best thing for Amante he'll agree.

I think boarding or having a friend take care of him would be a good idea.  Up to 100 people really raises the odds of Amante ending up sick from eating dropped goodies or something going wrong.  Better safe then sorry.  Have fun.

I would board him for sure....If he lived closer I would love to doggie sit.  But FL is a little to far for a 1 night visit ; )

definitely board. See if you can find a cage free bording facility or someone who boards dogs in their own home.

It sounds like a perfect time to test the waters with boarding him.     We had Banjo do a "trial" sleep-over for his first time at the boarders.   I felt more comfortable doing that and being in town rather than having to board him and being away.    Enjoy your party!

Yes, I agree with the majority.  However, I would try to find someone who boards in their own home and be very selective.  That way in the future you would have someone you know will take good care of him and a place where he feels safe.
