Marabelle is a Poop eater yuck, so I give her yogurt and try to keep her away from it. I'm wondering what my reaction should be when trying to keep her from it? She is only ten weeks old and does not know the leave it command as of yet. I don't want to make it a game with her,but I don't want to ignore it either. Any suggestions on how to start the ( leave the poop alone Marabelle ) training?
I hate to say it but we had that problem from day one and it is really a tough habit to break. It's been our biggest challenge and Murphy is now 8 months old. We tried 3 different over the counter tablets that are supposed to make it taste bad to them. We also tried pineapple. None of this worked for us so we just try to watch her when we know it's that time and quickly clean it up. I think it's fine, if she's in the act, to use a strong disapproving voice telling her to leave it. Murphy has gotten better about it, but has not completely stopped. She's no longer interested in her morning poop but the afternoon one she will occasionally nibble if given the chance. Good luck!
Izzy doesn't eat her own poop or Lucca's (they eat the same food) but she eats Ben's!!!! They ALL eat cat poo on our walks....yuk. Start with the leave it command and also say YUK really loud. I would also yank her away if she's on a leash. But we also do the same as Anne...when we see Ben poo we clean it up right away because Ms Izzy is a sneak and really quick. She watches and waits!!!!
Right now it is mainly deer poop that she's after there is lots in our yard. I can imagine she will try all types of poop or attempt to at any rate lol.
One of he funny things Murphy does now is if I catch her eyeing her poop and give her the "aye aye" or "leave it", she'll start digging at something as if to say "oh I wasn't going to eat it, I was just digging here and happen to be facing in that direction". lol
