Hey all,
Ollie got his 12 week shots yesterday. He was super tired right after, but ate just fine. He slept most of the day. He hasn't eaten this morning yet and just threw up a little (it was only mucus...sorry if this is gross). Should I call the emergency care vet or just wait and see if he is okay?

How is his energy this morning? Is he drinking water? If he is behaving normally and just has what seems to be an upset tummy, I would just monitor him for now. You can always change your mind later. Vaccines can be very upsetting to some dogs systems especially if they are given a vaccine "cocktail" with numerous vaccines mixed together. Keep in mind that they are being injected with viruses so they can get minor symptoms of the illness just as humans do with the flu shot. I am not sure what the Emergency vet could do for him now. However, if it would give you more peace of mind it wouldn't hurt to call them.
I'm sorry he is not feeling well and hope this passes for him soon!
Rachel, did he eat at all last night or this morning? If he didn't, and if the vomit was yellow, it is bile, because he hasn't eaten.
I would just make him a scrambled egg--one egg, cooked without butter or margarine, if you have a non-stick pan.
If he eats that and, as long as his activity seems pretty normal, I wouldn't call the emergency vet right away. Just watch him. If he throws up again, or he seems unusually lethargic or exhausted, then call.
Hope this helps!
So right after I posted this, I called the number and they said to just see if he throws up more. He ate last night pretty normally, but was so tired from the shots. He already has gone to the bathroom twice today, which isn't really normal, but I guess he could just have a bit of a tummy ache from the mix of shots in his system. He ate most of his brunch and has been drinking water. He is acting a little more Ollie like which is encouraging, but is still a little tired. I might put him in his crate for a few hours and see if he will just chill/sleep. It has freaked me out a little thinking he could be sick.
Glad to hear he is improving! I'm a neurotic doodle mommy so I totally know what you mean about freaking out! The next time he is due for shots you might consider having the different vaccines administered separately rather than in a single shot. They can be spaced out over a few weeks or a month. That way his system would not be so challenged.
