Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I am frequently asked for veterinarian recommendations. If you love your vet, please put in a good word for him or her! Please include city and state.

I will start.... My vet is Dr. Robert Webster at Koy Animal Clinic in Georgetown TX. (512) 863-0327. I started going there when we first moved to Georgetown and Reba was bitten by a rattlesnake in 2005. We had to find help fast! It was touch and go for several days, and Dr. Webster saved Reba's life. She is still here with us and healthy as can be with no lasting effects from the snake bite.

His staff is great, too. Everyone there has a lot of compassion for animals.

Please let us know about your vet.

We take our Peabo (and Payton) to Dr. Vandermause at Crystal Mountain Animal Hospital at 8947 Bee Caves Road, Austin, TX.  Phone is 512-263-2900 and website is www.vandervet.com.  When we knew we were adopting a labradoodle puppy from Dixie in November 2007, I tried to setup appointments at the popular vets in the Westlake area but I couldn't get into them in a reasonable amount of time so I just happened to drive by Crystal Mountain and decided to stop in.  Everyone was real helpful and excited for us and we setup an appointment very quickly.  They are very friendly and it is very easy to get appointments.  They even have Saturday hours.  Dr. Vandermause also believes in some holistic treatments which we have used for non-serious issues.  They do some boarding, which we haven't used before because we love Spicewood K9 but I know it is available.   We have been very satisfied.

He also is offering help for any dogs who need boarding during these terrible wild fires.

When we lived in Austin, we went to  the Griffith Animal Hospital -- our vet was Dr. Boggs, and she was just great.  We didn't see her much with the doodles-- they were super healthy!  Our first puppy, a lab, had several health issues, though, and it was great to have a vet we trusted.  Now we live in Springfield, MO -- and though I doubt any of you live near here, we've been seeing Dr. Reid at the Animal Health Clinic.  I love how he and the staff take time to get to know you and though we're still new, he seems to have a great reputation.
Cosmo's vet is Dr. Laura Bay-Williams at the Van Stavern Small Animal Hospital in College Station, Texas. We absolutely adore her, and everyone at the clinic, from the other vets, to the techs, to the students, is so kind and loving to Cosmo. We are thrilled to have found Dr. Laura and her colleagues!
Coco goes to Katy Trail Animal Hospital, 4151 McKinney Avenue, Dallas, 214-363-4463. All the doctors are great, but we love Dr. Colleen Murray – she is the best!!  They don't do any boarding, they are strictly for health checkups.  The coolest thing is that they have a company from California come in once a month that does dental cleanings without anesthetic!  They cleaned Coco's teeth in less than 30 minutes, while I waited.  They will do cats too.  They wrap them up like a kitty burrito in a towel.  I think all of my animals felt better after they had their teeth cleaned!

I have the same vet as Dixie and can not say enough about them! They where GREAT when Lucy got a hold of a mushroom in the backyard. Dr. Webster called and gave me updates on Lucy so I would not worry. (She had to stay overnight)

GREAT staff and they are so nice!

Hi, Dixie!!
I'm a little late to this but Love Pet Hospital on Brodie Lane 1-512-282-0221 has been fantastic. We have seen both Dr. Huckabee and one other(can't recall the name) when there was an appointment mix up and their service and kindness is like none I've experienced at a vet's office -- love them! They also offer accupuncture and chiropractic services (haven't tried those.) I like their blend of western and eastern medicine!

Also, with a tight budget, I have been taking the girls to Animal Trustees of Austin 1-512-451-9355. They are a non-profit organization that helps the Austin area with affordable vaccines, micro-chips, neuter/spay, heartworm tests and meds. We were there yesterday and spent only $110 on both of there tests and a year's worth of heartworm medication.

They are NOT glamorous by ANY means, they don't take appointments and you will probably have to take a number and return in a couple of hours if you don't show up when they open at 10AM...BUT, in a pinch, they offer wonderful service (all the vets and techs are kind and professional) at a VERY affordable price.... I save so much with them that I make a small donation to them so that those less fortunate may continue to benefit from their services!

I've been meaning to respond to this for a while now.... as I love the Vet clinic I take Shelby to.

Shelby's doctor is Dr. Rachel Hibbitts... but we have literally seen all the doctors there and they are all great!

Very friendly, easy to schedule appointments, weekend hours (limited) on both Saturday and Sunday, patient with 1st time dog owners with lots of questions, good with Shelby (gentle, sweet, etc.) and an all around good expeience.

We have been taking Hairrietta to Dr. Kara Moore at the Oliver Animal Hospital. They are at 6000 W. Wm. Cannon Suite 100 Bldg. B, Austin, TX 78749. Phone 512-892-1000.  The staff there has been very friendly, well-organized and quite helpful at each of Hairrietta's visits.

I know this a few months late but we love our vet!!  Mack goes to Allandale Vet Clinic on 6800 Burnet Rd, 78757
(512) 454-6719.  They take great care of him and he is the celebrity whenever we walk in the door!
