Hi everyone,

Lilly gets spayed tomorrow. My daughter suggested that I get pain meds for her and that alot of vets don't offer it for dogs. After I got "fixed" I would have killed for pain meds had I not had any.

Did any of your puppies get pain meds? thoughts?

thanks.

YES .... Brady was given pain meds following his neutering!   I don't know if it's less painful for a male but I really find he is so much better than I thought he'd be.    The Vet gave 4 days worth of meds, and we are on day 4 post surgery with about 3 days of meds left.   I hope it all goes well tomorrow.   By the way I bought Brady a pair of soft cotton pull on pants  to wear hoping I wouldn't have to use the CONE.   He fought them a bit at first but has settled right into the routine (he can actually have a poop as the whole I cut for his tail is big enough to clear the area.   It's been so much nicer than that silly cone and he looks absolutely adorable in them!!!!
Absolutely..it's surgery.  Bailey was spayed  a month ago and we gave her meds for 2 days after.   I say yes to meds.....
My dog Thor just got Neutered on Friday, and our Vet sent him home with some pain medication.  They told us to give it to him for 4-5 days.  So we didn't even need to ask for it, they just automatically sent it!
Lilly is home. We paid more to have laser surgery. what ever that means. We did get pain meds and will start in the morning if she needs them. We also got the cone, but have not used it yet. While she was out, they put the chip in her which gives me peace of mind if she gets lost and doesn't have her collar on. total price 180.00 for everything.  money well spent.

I'm glad she is doing well. $180 - spay, chip and meds. that seems to me to be an amazingly great price - money very well spent!

Glad she's home and OK. We did the same thing and had the chip put in while she was out. I paid a lot more than $180. Hmmm, that's L.A. for you...

Happy to hear she's doing well! Hopefully, you'll both get a good nights sleep. We paid 411.00 without the micro chip... I'm moving!

Lilly is one month out from being spayed. She is doing well. She hated the pain pills and would spit them out after the first one. The dog will eat other dog's poop, but would keep the pill in her mouth after I thought for sure she had swallowed it and then spit it out. I thought girlfriend, don't waste a perfectly good drug, but I was happy I had them for her and no I didn't take any:)
