I'd finally had enough this morning.  My next door neighbor has an Italian mastiff and a variety of other large dogs visit there, or maybe live there.  I'm not even sure how many PEOPLE live in that house!  Anyhow, their dog or dogs are just let out the front door to take care of business wherever they want, which appears to be mostly in my yard.  After I'd used a leaf blower this morning to pile up leaves from the front yard, I couldn't believe how many huge piles of dog poo were out there!  Trav has his fenced spot in the back and is only on leash in the front, so I knew none of it was his.  I bagged it all up, a gross task, though it appears the dog(s) do have a decent diet.  Heh, heh--can't help but make that assessment.  I've also run the mower through some of those piles--another yuk experience.  So this morning I knocked on their door, apparently woke the girl up, and politely asked if they could direct their dog(s) to their own yard when it was time to take care of business.  Such surprise and amazement!  They had no idea their dog(s) were messing in my yard.  Uhhhhh....right.  Anyhow, I've been assured that they'll watch the dogs in the future.

And that's my rant for the morning.

Wait......maybe I should not have said anything.......I don't know who is going to move in. I might have just jinxed myself. Knock on wood.
Ick!  Bad enough when you're wearing shoes!  Hope you'll get some great new neighbors, Leigh.
I once picked up the visiting poo with a shovel and dumped it on the offender's driveway!  Not nice but I had had enough!
Funny, Nancy!  That was my alternate option, but I probably would have put it on the lawn.  At least the first time.  I'm really hoping they'll watch the dogs from now on.
Its bad enough that you have to clean up you own dogs poop but someone else's large dog's poop -not !!!  I am thankful enough that all the dog owners in my neighborhood clean up after their dogs.  I always carry poop bags with me on walks.
Right, Barbara.  Finding all the piles in my yard was particularly irritating when I came back from a walk with Trav carrying my cute little pink plastic bag filled with his poop.
i hear ya i always pick up my dogs poops and i have that problem now my neighbors dogs do the same they do not have them leashed and they poo in the front of my house and my dog is fenced in the back and he never goes in the front  i just pick it up and throw it back with a small  spade shovel and hope it gets  near there front door .. and they do it at night at odd times
jessica--sounds like you live on the other side of my neighbor!  I don't think I've EVER seen a pile of poop in their yard--the dogs prefer MY yard.  I noticed the mailman won't go to their house if the front door is open.  I guess he doesn't want to risk an encounter with the mastiff.  I saw him (the mailman) a couple of days ago, hovering around on the sidewalk with a handful of mail, staring at that open door.  Eventually he just walked on by.
Did you hand her the bag when she acted surprised??? (sorry this is gross)
I had collected up a weeks worth of my neighbors dogs poo, and the bag got tied to his work trucks door handle one night.  In a double knot no less!  Never found anymore poo!!
Love this idea!!!

Wow, Joyce!  That would do it for me too.

Jennifer, the bag was clearly visible just a few feet away, and it was obvious there was a LOT in it.  So far so good...though I haven't checked the yard yet this morning.
