Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

This little guy was found abandoned yesterday.  I posted a discussion about it  http://www.doodlekisses.com/forum/topics/abandoned

All of the doggy organizations around here were called, and no one reported a missing dog.  Based on how he was found, the people at animal control and the people at the vet's office also feel that he was abandoned.

Mom brought Halas to my work just a little while ago for a meet-n-greet with the puppy, and they did fine together.  So my mom is keeping the puppy!  I'm really excited for her.

We're guessing he's some kind of maltese-bichon-poodle combo.

Please help us think of a name.   We're Bears fans here, and my mom likes beer and baking, so I was trying to think of things along those lines.  Here are a couple of suggestions we have so far:

Rocket (his red rocket made several appearances yesterday)

Barley (beer related)

Bumble (Abominable snow monster from Rudolph)

Ditka (Bears)

Bud (Mom drinks Bud Light)

Perry (Refrigerator Perry from the Bears)

Marshmallow or Mallow

Let me know what you think of these and offer up any other suggestions.

He'll have a busy few weeks in front of him getting used to a new home, getting all of his shots, and getting neutered, but he seems like an easy-going guy, so I'm sure he'll take it all in stride.

They were originally the Decatur Staleys.  That's a good one, too.

Bud, for Budweiser!

I'm partial to Bumble.  :)
He is adorable. Congrats to your mom - and to him. Barley, Perry and Bumble are my favorites from his picture and how you describe him.  I would like to offer Hula as a name.  It was one of the suggested names for Clancy and though it didn't stick with him, I will have a Hula one of these days because I love the way it rolls off your tongue.  Or Souffle or Cobbler.
I like Barley.  He's really cute!
He finally has a name! This is Barley Bear Parker Weyhrich. Two middle names, just like Halas. Thanks for the suggestion, Jane. My mom and I just really liked the way those names flowed.

All of his bloodwork came back good. He's getting groomed on Tuesday, along with Halas. Then he's getting neutered on Wednesday. He let my mom bathe him without any problems, and he has been still while she works on his eye boogers and tear stains. We bought some Angel Eyes yesterday, so hopefully that will help with the tear stains. He has played with my mom a little, and he seems to want to play with Halas, but he's still not sure about Halas, who probably looks like a giant furry beast to Barley, who is just over 8 lbs.

Barley has been really friendly with all of the people and dogs he's met over the last few days. It's obvious that someone really cared for him at some point. We are thinking that maybe an elderly person had him, and then he was dumped when that person could no longer care for him.

When he was scanned for a microchip, someone at the vet's office said he was a puppy, but I don't think it was the vet. After his work up on Thursday, the vet said he's probably around 2 years old. He doesn't seem to know any obedience commands, but he's been very well-behaved so far, and he walks nicely on a leash.
And thanks, BG for suggesting Parker!
I love the name Barley and all the rest of it : ) May your Mom and Barley have many happy years together.

Here he is making himself comfortable on the back of Mom's couch.

Barley Bear, we are very pleased to meet you! DK's 8 lb honorary doodle boy!

Love Barley Bear!  It really suits him.  He is so very cute
Barley Bear is just adorable!  I'm so glad he found a home where he will be loved and cared for and has someone to love and care for!! Perfect!
