Well the vet called this morning and confirmed her thoughts. She said Lexi tested positive for Addisons. She will need daily pills and a monthly injection but she should be able to lead a fairly normal long life...........thats the good news.............bad news is Percorten seems to be a pretty expensive drug. Not sure how long a vial lasts.
Sorry to hear this, but sounds like she'll still be your normal Lexi if treatment is followed. Thinking of you all in this tough time. Hope she can adjust well.
I'm sorry you didn't get a better result. But I'm glad to hear that she can still live a normal life with treatments. At least you know what you're dealing with now.
I am saddened to hear this news but at least you now have a diagnosis and treatment plan. I think there are other Doodle owners here who also have Dogs with Addisons and if you do a search you should find them. Networking with others in the same situation will hopefully give you lots of tips and advice for what to expect, costs of drugs etc. I wish Lexi and you all the very best.
It is so hard to deal with a disease when it is hurting your pocketbook, but I know that you will find a way and that Lexi will thrive and have a great life. Good luck to all.
