Made in China!

After considering a very thought provoking post a week or so ago,

and my daughters desire to keep toxic paints and plastics out of her newborns environment, I started really looking at items I purchase and where I can buy them locally first.
I'm familiar with all the risks of dog treats and toys and am diligent in finding these items that are made In the USA. And they were actually not too hard to find, so I figured I would have the same luck with baby things.

However, I didn't expect it to be so hard to find things that were NOT made in China! Did you know even Fisher Price Toys are made in China? Baby storybooks? So many baby clothes, bath toys, even soaps and lotions! It's a bigger challenge than I expected and I am frustrated and even a little mad that Americans have allowed this!

Is anyone else committed to buying American and finding it a challenge?

 I don't know if anything can be done at this point! It took the U.S. MANY years and MANY bad decisions to get to where we are now! Sorry about the depression!!! :(. At least wine is made in the U.S. and it helps with that! :)

Yes, and we will soon have DRC wine with doodles on it that is all made in the USA!!!! Yeah for wine, doodles, DRC and USA!!!

I cant even find anything at the grocery store worthy of buying.  Even Hartz products, I thought oh here we go, American company with roots.  NOT!  It's so disgusting.  We have tons of slaughter houses in this country, why in the hell cant they compete and send me some stuff from Iowa for example.  sigh.  We do homemade treats at home with chicken breast mostly, but it sure is discouraging that I cant simply shop and buy sometimes.

I agree and it is so sad!  I too try to buy American when I purchase and I not only find it time-consuming, but sometimes just impossible!

Yes, it was announced last week in the Yappy hour that the DRC is having a wine company make wine for them and 30% of the proceeds go to the DRC. WE discussed the DRC doodles that should be on the labels. A white one for white wine and a red one for red wine. Pretty clever aren't we?

What sites are some of you using for Dog Toys that are American made? I see that Nylabone and Kong are made in the USA so those are easy enough to find locally, but does anyone order online as well? Then how do you know they are made int the USA?

This company,Simply Fido, does a lot of safety testing on their products but I still think they are manufactured in China. They have offices in Shanghai and Hong Kong which is kind of a give away. But the items they sell are organic and 100% Certified Nontoxic.  Not sure how they would hold up to doodle playtime though. I bought Tara one of their blankets when she was a baby. I still have it. But I also bought her 2 adorable stuffies and she trashed them just like the rest! :(  Check out the"product safety" section.

In my attempts to purchase as much American made products as possible, I have taken on the task of finding Engineered Hardwood flooring for our home remodel. What an education I have gotten. Most all the products we sell in the USA are made and shipped from, you guessed it.....CHINA!!!!  It has taken me tons of research and some very nice salemen to help me find a product that is made in the US and is affordable and has the warrantees given by the China companies. It's not much more and a very very nice quality and just the fact that it's made here makes me feel so good that it's well worth it.

So my first big AMERICAN made purchase of the year is 575 sq feet of MADE in USA, hardwood flooring. Next is kitchen appliances, granite and furniture!!! I am on a mission!
