Boarding
Really need some help! When we go out of town, my dogs always have stayed with my parents. We have left them at holiday barn for weekend trips but never longer then that, my parents are unable to watch them and holiday barn is nice but so expensive! Does any one have any recommendations on places to board pets that can board them together and are given attention and are not in a cage without paying for every little thing in the richmond va area? Thank you!!

My first suggestion would be to see if there are any other DK MEMBERS in the area who you can swap doggie sitting with. I have a friend who has 2 dogs and we do that for each other off and on all year. It helps that she has my Murphy's brother too.

When I travel on business or pleasure which is not very much my BF stays at my house, I'm very lucky that my doodles do not have to be uprooted and can stay in the comfort of their own home. I also have neighbors on both sides of my that are dog lovers and have dogs so I could always have them take out the dogs and spend time with them if my BF was not available. I'm lucky.... do you have a family member or friend that can stay at your house while you are gone?

I don't know anything about the Richmond area, but you might want to look for a Daycare that also does boarding. That's what we do with our guys when we have to be away for a few days, and it works out well. All the dogs are prescreened, and they get to play together all day. Then they go to their "suites" (large kennels where you can board "siblings" together) for a couple of hours. They come out to play again from 7:00 till 9:00 then go back to their kennels to sleep. Because this facility operates as a Daycare during the day, there is lots of activity and my Doods love it. Good luck.
