Hattie Went to Emergency Yesterday

Hattie went to emergency last night and was given an IV of fluids and meds. I bought her a chew treat off the shelf (I always dehydrate ALL of her treats myself and I don't know what possessed me to buy off the shelf like that! I feel so awful. I was just trying to give her something to occupy her in the playpen while I put up Christmas lights outside.) Anyway, it was tainted with bacteria because I bought one that did not have preservatives. She was very sick. She ate some rice and yogurt this morning but is still very quiet. :( It was a Nylabone Healthy Edibles brand made in the USA. I am taking it back to the store today to have them pull them off the shelf. The only other thing that could have made her sick was her Trifexis. This is the second time she has had it and threw up last time too but just once the next day. But this time she had diarrhea and throwing up all night and all day long, so the vet thinks it was the treat since her being sick occurred about 12-14 hours after the treat and it had been almost three days since the Trifexis was given. Either way, my poor baby girl! I feel so bad and guilty.

I'm so sorry Hattie is ill....hoping she's back to good health soon Sandy.    Don't be so hard on yourself....my goodness....I wouldn't hesitate to buy a made in the USA Nylabone product....but now I will....thanks for posting.     It just seems we have to be so careful with what we give our pups doesn't it?     So often I'll pick up something in the pet store and I'll end up just putting it back because I'm just not SURE.       I guess we have to stick with the tried and true.    Will be checking for updates.   Hugs to little Hattie and you!

Oh no, not another sick Doodle.  Poor Hattie....I'm so sorry.  Don't feel guilty...how could you have known.  I always feel pretty good when I get USA made treats...this is just scary.  I sure hope she starts feeling better.

So sorry to hear about Hattie. I hope she is feeling better today and it's all out of her system. Please don't feel bad, we all use and recommend USA products, so it wasn't like you ignored all the postings and bought her some junk from China or Brazil! Thanks for posting as this is how we all learn. Hurry up Santa with my dehydrator!

That's truly dreadful, what a scare.  Those so called treats should read 'misery for dogs,money for vets and trauma for owners' on the labels.
