Hattie Went to Emergency Yesterday

Hattie went to emergency last night and was given an IV of fluids and meds. I bought her a chew treat off the shelf (I always dehydrate ALL of her treats myself and I don't know what possessed me to buy off the shelf like that! I feel so awful. I was just trying to give her something to occupy her in the playpen while I put up Christmas lights outside.) Anyway, it was tainted with bacteria because I bought one that did not have preservatives. She was very sick. She ate some rice and yogurt this morning but is still very quiet. :( It was a Nylabone Healthy Edibles brand made in the USA. I am taking it back to the store today to have them pull them off the shelf. The only other thing that could have made her sick was her Trifexis. This is the second time she has had it and threw up last time too but just once the next day. But this time she had diarrhea and throwing up all night and all day long, so the vet thinks it was the treat since her being sick occurred about 12-14 hours after the treat and it had been almost three days since the Trifexis was given. Either way, my poor baby girl! I feel so bad and guilty.

Sandy, I just saw your original post!! This is just awful! I'm becoming more and more leery of snacks from the store!! I may be homebaking as well as homecooking soon!  I'm glad that Hattie is improving and hope she is back to 100% soon!

Oh poor little Hattie.  I hate that all our Doodles are starting to have digestive problems.  I'm glad you know what it was for her though.  Give her lots of cuddles and kisses and I'm sure she will be fine in a day or two.  We send hugs and kisses too!

I gave Daisy a Nylabone Healthy Treat 2 weeks ago (mostly because so many here do) and she had such bad diarrhea the next day, it was packaged with the toy that you stuff them in. I just thought she couldn't handle it with her sensitive tummy...I feel so bad now. She seems fine, but should I have her tested?

I hope Hattie is all better now.

I'm so sorry that Hattie is feeling poorly.  I feel badly for both of you.  I can't imagine how difficult this is for you. Hang in there and just know that your intentions were good and that Miss Hattie-girl will be fine. Praying for her!
