Hattie Went to Emergency Yesterday

Hattie went to emergency last night and was given an IV of fluids and meds. I bought her a chew treat off the shelf (I always dehydrate ALL of her treats myself and I don't know what possessed me to buy off the shelf like that! I feel so awful. I was just trying to give her something to occupy her in the playpen while I put up Christmas lights outside.) Anyway, it was tainted with bacteria because I bought one that did not have preservatives. She was very sick. She ate some rice and yogurt this morning but is still very quiet. :( It was a Nylabone Healthy Edibles brand made in the USA. I am taking it back to the store today to have them pull them off the shelf. The only other thing that could have made her sick was her Trifexis. This is the second time she has had it and threw up last time too but just once the next day. But this time she had diarrhea and throwing up all night and all day long, so the vet thinks it was the treat since her being sick occurred about 12-14 hours after the treat and it had been almost three days since the Trifexis was given. Either way, my poor baby girl! I feel so bad and guilty.

Oh no, another sick pup !  I'm so sorry.  We've been following all the posts about all the fur kids that have been having

health issues and feel so sad for all of them.  Sending all of them wishes for speedy recoveries!

OMD, I am so sorry that little Hattie had to go thru this.  But don't blame yourself, u didn't do it intentionally, and thank goodness she will be fine....You know that things happen, but I would certainly tell the store where u bought this stuff what happened, maybe they will help with the vet bill? but at least get that stuff off the shelves.  Please keep us posted with her recovery, hugs to both of you...Cheryl

Oh Sandy, This is so awful! You are the best doodle mom ever and you just couldn't have known this would happen to your sweet girl. Hoping to hear she is doing better very soon.

So sorry that Hattie is still having problems. :( Poor sweet girl!  You must be going nuts by now with worry and frustration! I hope this is the final treatment that she needs and this will bring her back to her doodley self again!

Sorry to hear she's not a whole lot better, but the meds should help soon, and she'll be back to her old self again. Thanks for keeping us posted.

I'm so sorry to hear that Hattie is still not feeling well.

It can take a while for their digestive systems to get back to normal, and the antibiotics can exacerbate that. Some plain low-fat unflavored yogurt may help, or probiotic capsules, if she is keeping things down. .

JD says he knows how Hattie feels and we hope she gets better soon.
