So I decided that I wanted to see what Sadie would look like with short hair, and she's been blowing her puppy coat (at least I hope that's what's going on) at such a rate that I was having trouble keeping up with the brushing. (And I know that I have not solved the problem by having her shorn--I'm just trying to make the process easier on both of us!)

After the initial reaction of "Who is this dog and what have you done with my Sadie?" I decided that she looks pretty sharp! I'm going to try to take a picture of her every Monday to keep track of how it grows in again. I don't know that I'd go this short with her again, but she sure feels soft! And after she gets dirty at the dog park she is so easy to hose off!

And just to brag on her a little, the groomer said she was the best dog all day and they couldn't believe she had only been groomed once before.

I keep Gracie almost that short much of the year.  We go to the dogparks around town a couple of times a week.  She loves to roll in "stuff" and one park has a really smelly lake she loves to swim in.  I love the ease of bathing and drying the short cut.  The only thing we do different is not trim the tail feathers.

Gracie is very cute! I think I will probably have them leave Sadie's tail and beard a little longer next time.

She looks wonderful! And very happy! I'm keeping Lachlan that short right now too. I miss the fluffy-teddy-bear look, but he wants to play in the mud so it's easier for both of us.

Thanks! I know what you mean--Sadie is a mud magnet, and we have mud all year round here. I miss my fluffy dog, but I like the athletic look, too.

I had Pippin groomed really short this summer when he was blowing his puppy coat, and also because he was so hot!.  His coat is now around 4 1/2 inches long and he is getting groomed today.  I'm going to ask for him to be cut to about 2 inches.  First time with this groomer (who has an aussie doodle and likes the doodle look), so we'll see what happens.  She does scissor cut.  I'll see how I like this length.  Pip loves water and the more mud and sand the better (we live in Vancouver BC, so lots of beach time) and it is just a pain to get his coat clean.  I like both looks on the doodles, short and long.  Sadie looks gorgeous and that velvet feel on the coat when they are short is really nice.

Becka...Sadie looks So adorable!!

Look At That Face!!

I just love her expressive face...and you can really see it now!

IMO...Doodles look Great at Any length!!

You can let her coat come in a bit...and see what length you like it...

Sometimes when it gets to a certain length...it begins to mat and then you have to spend Lots of time grooming...and wonder if our Doodles really like that much??

That's where I am with Sasha...

She's growing in now...and I'm loving each stage...

I think that I'll let it grow...but Stop before she begins to mat!!

Maybe two inches...

Sasha sends hugs to Sadie...

Thanks, Susan (and Sasha!). I know that Sadie doesn't like when I brush her too much--she tolerates a certain amount and then she starts to complain. Two inches might end up being the ideal length.

I think she looks so cute!

Thank you!
