Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I posted this video earlier in Sally's discussion about her duck . Afterward I got to thinking about how this fellow and his dog handled this situation and wondered what Tara and I would have done had it been us.
I'm pretty sure Tara would have made a nose dive under my seat if there was room and left me to fend for myself. Otherwise she would have cowered in a corner of the boat screaming her head off. As for me I probably would have cowered in a corner screaming my head off too! LOL!
I found it interesting how calm the Chesapeake Bay Retriever remained under this situation. Even when the bird was right on her! She seemed to totally trust the man to take care of the situation. Which is what I would hope Tara could do too.
How do you think this scenario would have played out if it had been you and your doodle in the boat??

Geez, Neely tried Duck herding at the cottage this summer but I don't know what he'd do if he was actually that close to a crazy bird!
I just hope we never have to find out, Lorraine!
Sunny probably would hide between my legs. If it were a smaller bird, though, she might try to bat it out of the air with her paws since my brother has a remote control helicopter about the size of a small bird and she bats that out of the air if she can reach it.
A goose is big enough to really scare her, though, so she'd probably cower between my legs silently and let me deal with it!
I know what you mean Jared! When our babies are threatened we get super human strength! Maybe I COULD out wrestle that goose!!!
Sunny and Tara sound a lot alike! Sunny batting down a helicopter would make for a great video Michael!
This goose was crazy and the dog was incredibly tolerant. Wringing the duck's neck might get one in trouble but it would be tempting! As to my doodles, I think they would have carried on and we'd all end up in the drink.
F I can just picture it now...people, dogs and feathers flying in all directions!!!
My sister in law had a duck that was just like this....I kept telling them that the duck would be dinner if it were mine! He would chase me, my daughter, the dogs, anyone that dared go in his yard.
Daisy probably would have been scared at first but then would have gone after it after the 3rd attempt to attack her.
Just the other day my boss came into my office wearing a fedora type hat and a long overcoat, (Daisy LOVES my boss) he came in to say goodbye and D did not recognize him and charged him growling and barking....until one step before and it was like "oh, it's you" and started wagging her tail. I had never seen that in her before and always wondered what she would do if a stranger came out of no where, asked and answered. Thankfully my boss understood and just petted her and apologized for startling her. (whew). He said "well I guess we know she would protect you now", remind me never to get mad at you.
Wow it sounds like Daisy is quite the guard dog! I'm sure she wouldn't tolerate any funny business from a goose! LOL!
That goose just may have found him self invited to Christmas dinner, as the main course. lol That dog was incredibly tolerant, much more than I would be.
I think that dog could have put an end to the problem with one good SNAP!! Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat...
I am pretty sure Vern would pee all over the boat, but Fudge might give that goose a run for its money!
