Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I was just thinking about how breeders get their dogs. Not me but a lot of people especially pure bred breeders are against mixed breeds unless they are from a rescue then its okay to adopt one.So if breeders are only looking for the betterment of their purebred dogs and to only improve that particular breed. Why would they sell a breeding dog to a breeder that breeds mixed breeds? No reputable breeder of a pure bred dog that cares about their breed and improving upon that breed would ever sell breeding stock to a breeder that breeds mixed breeds. It makes sense to me.So where are these premium  labradoodle  breeders and goldendoodle breeders getting their quality stock from.Once again im confused. What am i missing here? Please keep an open mind these are not my opinions and is not a stab at the awesome LD and GD.

"If the Golden breeders believed in your program enough to sell you breeding dogs, then why would they not want their names used?" This has nothing to with me and everything to do with the backlash they would receive from breeders like you.

I could post pedigrees, but won't.  I don't need your approval of my lines.  I answer to GANA and to my customers.

I ended up spending the night at the emergency vet and had to get a c-section.  (In the end we have 7 healthy pups and a spayed mama.)  I am extremely tired and will not waste more energy on this discussion.

Oh, BTW....you never answered my questions.  Do you have a doodle?  Do you like them?  This forum is for doodle enthusiasts.  As far a I can tell, you are enthusiastically....against them.

I was under the understanding that if the CKC FOUND out that you were part of any MIXED breeding you can and would lose your standing in the club. That is why no one wants to publicly post they are breeding doodles.

Do you know if it is that way in the US? With the AKC.

Why is this so important to you, Carol? Gawd...it has been YEARS since our debates on other forums, where you admitted that I was one of the better breeders. Why is this such a powerful issue to you? You are not going to stop Doodle breeding so let it go. Your life would be much nicer if you would stop hating.

You know as well as I do that if we gave you information about where we get our dogs you would do everything in your power to discredit those lines, even to the point of falsifying information. You would destroy our breeder sources and fuel your ever-burning hatred for our programs. We are not stupid. Why should we give this information to you? Who are you to deserve anything from us?

Hatred and bigotry are ugly things. Why do you insist on perpetuating it? You must be a very miserable person.

I find this post very offensive. Personal attacks against an individual are forbidden by the DK guidelines. Everyone is permitted to state an opinion here, and Carol has not personally attacked anyone. If you cannot state your opinions without attacking someone's personality, please refrain from posting.

You have asked some very interesting questions. I don't think it is bad to publicly state doubts about the AKC or purebreds though. I like to know people's thought about issues to help me formulate my own opinions. But truly if someone doesn't approve of doodles in general without good reason that isn't very helpful to us. If there are good reasons let us know and ponder them. But not having championships, for which doodles are ineligible, is not a good reason to me. Nor do I think we need to try to finagle such titles in order to get good breeding stock.

Excactly F! I have never heard of a good reason not to like doodles. Mostly it is people who get their backs up because they have devote a lot of energy, time and money to perfecting their champion purebreds that they feel defensive when others don't treat their priorities with as much reverence as they think they deserve.

If doodles make some people happy then let them be happy. As long as no person or animal is getting hurt then what's the big deal?

So then how do you get good breeding stock?  How can you independently prove that the dogs are worthy of being bred?

Hopefully Carol the same way you do in your program. With vigilant health testing prior to breeding.
We are owned by a dog that April independently proved was not worthy of being bred to the high standards of which she holds to in her program. April held her back from a beautiful litter, raised her with love and devotion and health tested her at the appropriate age. As her testing came back borderline April did the responsible thing and removed her as a potential breeder and blessed our lives more than we could ever imagine with placing her in our trust. At 3 years old Rosie is the picture of health. April's actions were very responsible. Perhaps this sheds some light on how breeding stock is acquired....or in this case not.

I also want to add that I find the whole subject of title and champion offensive. I have papers up the wazoo for Rosie...at least 4 generations on both sides of proven health tested pedigree. I could care less if there is or isn't a champion of this or a title of that in there at all. Frankly i never bothered to look. Their health certificates mean more. A title does not in anyway shape or form tell me that my dog is better than another's because there's a title or championship involved with him. It does not say I love my dog any less or more than another does. All it simply means is that a choice was made to participate in a more public way with a dog than another. Neither of my doodles hold titles or championships other than holders of our hearts forever. They are played with daily, taught and exposed to new things constantly and admired by all who meet them. If any should hold a title it should be me.....title of proud doodle owner. I trust that health testing by a responsible breeder is what people are truly looking for . Not a title that has nothing to do with DNA but everything to do with a lifestyle choice. But if titles and championships are important , Gaston holds the title of resident keeper of his boy and champion hide and seeker player and Rosie holds the title of the other woman in my husband's life and the champion keeper of all our daughter's secrets. I challenge you to research those lines.....they are indisputable. Health testing aside, they would be valued contributors to any gene pool.

I suggest you join us Carol and get a doodle. Your life will be forever changed.

Likety LikeAlot!!!!

I think people should always state their doubts about AKC or purebreds.  I think it is always important to talk about good and poor breeding practices whether it be Doodle or Poodle.

@ April: is there a "LIKE" button here anywhere??

April, Carol makes it her life's work to tear down Doodles and Doodle breeders. She lurks on Doodle forums and posts and then turns to the Poodle and other "pure" breeders to condemn breeders.

What I don't understand is why the Doodle OWNERS are taking up her rant? If they don't like Doodles or their breeders why on earth would they own one? Why didn't they just buy a Poodle?

The only reason that Carol and those like her want to know our pedigree lines is so that they can condemn the breeders selling to us and work to blackball them from the elitist social clubs.
