Where do breeders get their dogs from?

I was just thinking about how breeders get their dogs.Not me but a lot of people especially pure bred breeders are against mixed breeds unless they are from a rescue then its okay to adopt one.So if breeders are only looking for the betterment of their purebred dogs and to only improve that particular breed.Why would they sell a breeding dog to a breeder that breeds mixed breeds? No reputable breeder of a pure bred dog that cares about their breed and improving upon that breed would ever sell breeding stock to a breeder that breeds mixed breeds.It makes sense to me.So where are these premium  labradoodle  breeders and goldendoodle breeders getting their quality stock from.Once again im confused.What am i missing here?Please keep an open mind these are not my opinions and is not a stab at the awesome LD and GD.

But sadly at least for quite some time there would have been very few doodles if this ideal had been carried through. In fact, when I started looking at the breed, probably going on 10 years ago now, there weren't that many.

The same can be said for any breed. And there being not that many is not necessarily a bad thing, IMO.

I think I'm going to start a discussion on this in the Doodle Debate group...as soon as I figure out what the heck I'm supposed to feed my dog to keep him from starving to death. So don't hold your breath, lol.

Most breeds start off with 'few' and then the ones that get popular explode due to popularity and BYB's.  I am not convinced it is wrong to breed in order to provide a wanted pet.  I see the sides to that argument, though.

Again I question the personality matching tests that some breeders do to choose which potential owner would be best? These are done as young pups by breeders. Does no one know what or how this is done to describe a potential active compared to laid back puppy?
