Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I told DH was getting pet insurance, end of story! Going with Presidents Choice thanks to Sherri (Sophie, Penelope and Winston) advice and info.
I have another question regarding pet insurance. When you take out insurance do you need to go for a vet visit to prove your dog is healthy? Thats what DH was told. If so thats another $70 we need to come up with...
Also, Cooper is an Australian Labradoodle - should I put poodle mix rather than lab mix, even though its more expensive?

I have PetPlan for Camus. They requested his records and saw a notation about allergies, so they have excluded his many ear infections, eye infections, and allergy medication. I was not happy about the exclusions but could not do anything about it, since the ear, eye, and skin issue are all allergy related.
I have Pet Plan and they had Labradoodle on the breed choice, I think. We had to submit vet records when we got the policy. I got our policies almost the day we got our puppies because I did not want anything to be excluded. There is a 30 day wait period, I believe, with Pet Plan.
I joined on line, never spoke to anyone and I didn't see anything about submitting Vet records, I did have to give them Vet info...this concerns me. She has been covered since we got her.
I have Pet Plan too and signed up on line when Tara was about 2 years old. There was a 2 week waiting period with the exception of emergencies which I think had a 24 or 48 hour waiting period. The area on the application regarding her vet's information was optional. They did ask if she currently had any illnesses and in order to get her knees covered immediately it needed to be documented by her vet that they were currently okay, otherwise a 6 month wait on those.
Someone in Canada needs to step up and offer some decent insurance for you guys. What you are describing is hardly worth it. I hope your monthly premiums are low because you aren't really getting much coverage.
Kaitlyn, I put lab mix and golden mix. They didn't question me. they are really friendly though so you c an talk to them on the phone about it, but when I did they didn't seem to care.
Did you all get Pet Plan when your dogs were very young....I did and no records were required.
Got Harleys in last month. No records required here either. While researching pet insurance, I did read that the 1st birthday was kinda like a threshold you pass over, so maybe that is why no records were required here either.
I wish we had pet plan here in Canada as so many people seem happy with it
me too Kaytlin!
my understanding of petplan is...your deductable is pay once PER diagnosis per year with a max yearly all combined. I chose to go with the 8K since Harley is under a year old. I spoke with a rep before signing up (online) and asked if I found out that 8K a year was not enough down the road would I be able to up grade and it still be considered same policy (so there would not be considered in pre-existing) and the rep said yes I could do that.
Jennifer and Jack have PetPlan, and just from her alone I feel good about my choice. Also, I love the Fetch magazine and their newsletter. I realize they share what the want to share but the stories help me to have peace of mind.
Canada needs to get on the ball....Pet Plan needs to open a branch there.
I think they had one.
