Sophie moaning 3 days after spay.

Is it unusual for a dog to feel discomfort 3 days after being spayed. Her stitches look ok. I gave her baby asprin and she is laying in her crate. Yesterday we had family here and I think she did too much. I wasn't told t o crate her. Just not let her play rough. Hopefully the baby asprin will make her feel better. Any advice appreciated.. Denise

I am glad that she is feeling better, but would still phone the vet just to let them know what is going on!

I don't think it's unusual for her to feel discomfort 3 days out. We had 3 full days worth of pain meds and then went to baby Aspirin if needed. Bella had periods that first week where she would just go lay down by herself even if she was playing with Murphy. I followed her lead, if she looked uncomfortable I used ice packs and rubbed her belly to ease it. She would let me know if the ice felt good or not. She always loved it though. Worked for me, so it might help her get past the next day or so.

Today she is much more playful. We have a light ground cover of snow and when I went outside with her she took off running. Of course I panic and brought her right back in. Her stitches look good. She is a little pink in that area . My Vet will be in tomorrow and I am going to take her in just for peace of mind. She has her first class in obedience school Tue night so I am praying she is ok to go.

It's hard to keep a doodle down!  I'm glad she is improving! By Tuesday she will be ready to be the star pupil of her obedience class!!

We just got back from Vet. He said other then her chewing all of her stitches out..(shocker, the were there last nite) she looks good. He did give me ointment to put on her 3 times a day. He said she can still go to obedience class. I don't know how long it takes for them to totally get back to normal as she is laying on the couch sleeping..:). Thanks again for all of your replies.
