Trixie is 10.5 months old. She ate well til about 6 months old...She has been eating Chicken soup Puppy starting at about 9 weeks.
at 6 months she started skipping meals.
Then she would eat really good for say 2 weeks...then skip...& back & forth. When she was at the kennel in Late Oct she ate all her meals...And did that when we got home for 2 full weeks...So 3+ weeks of good eating...And we though she had out grown meal skipping.
If she has gone 1.5 days without eating I mix in Some Pumpkin & she eats her food all up & gets excited about it.
This week she threw up 2 mornings...the 'Im Starved Yellow Bile' At least I hope thats all it is. She was fine otherwise. (and I lived with dogs for 20 years that threw up if we didnt feed them on time)
So I added Pumpkin in her food so she would eat...As she did not want to eat the plain kibble...
She is at the point where she picks out the kibble that has pumpkin on it & leaves the rest : O
Even spitting out plain pieces on the floor.
I think she doesnt like the Chicken soup food...We have a new bag here : (
I think its time to gradually switch foods...She is 10.5 months...Can I start to switch her to an adult food?
As a Puppy up until about 6 months she had a Sensitive tummy...So I dont want to rock the boat either...Though her stools have been 'perfect' for 3 months...
Is there a Kibble out there that May taste extra good to a Picky eater?
Suggestions?
Thanks

Paddy eats Lotus grain-free and loves it. It's a high quality kibble.
Pam, I don't feed Fromm (we finally settled on Taste of the Wild) but you should check out http://www.mrchewy.com/ to see if they carry the Fromm. You can order your food online and they will ship it to you free of charge if your order is over $49 and they also sell treats that you can add to your order too. The usually run some sort of special. Right now it is 15% off storewide. You may have to sign up for scheduled delivery to get that 15%, but you can always cancel or adjust your scheduled delivery later.
Another Bowl Licked clean! I know it might change.
But it is just wonderful to see Trixie excited to eat! She barked at me because I wasnt measuring the food fast enough for her.
The poor dog must have been starving : (
I feel terrible I did not do this sooner.
Don't feel terrible. You have been feeding her to the best of your abilities, you've done nothing wrong. Be happy that she's enthusiastic about her new food, and feel good about the way you are caring for her!
Thanks Karen : )
Tonight she left 10 pieces of Kibble...Old her 'old stuff'
Our Zoe always leaves some (5-10pieces of) kibble in her bowl, rarely she licks it clean. I never understood why, and I was guessing maybe she had enough... maybe I fed her too much...
So it has been about 5 weeks that Trixie has been on Fromm. She eats better then before we started it. Sometimes she still skips a meal...But will usually eat once a day for sure. We have tried 4 flavors. We rotate them every meal. She usually loves the new food for 2-3 meals & then she seems bored already...So thats why we switch every meal now.
Occasionally she even gets excited about eating.
Last week she threw up once during the night (not bile) Then 2 days later had the runs really bad. I didnt feed her for 24 hours...Boy when I dont offer her food she sure seemed hungry when I fed her! ( did bland for a day ) & then back to her food. She has been fine since.
So other then that episode (and maybe she ate something outside) Her tummy has adjusted very well, Nice stools too.
I just havent figured out a good food storage system...I have 3 bags of dog food on my counter! I have one flavor in a cereal Container I had...I need to get some more I guess.
I buy 2.5 gallon zip-lock storage bags, labelled of course, and then keep all of them in a big air-tight dog food storage container in my mudroom.
I have the same thing with my puppy and I don't want to start going crazy with food toppers. I recently purchased Etta Says Lamb Liver Treats and broke one up then added it into the dog's dry kibble with a tablespoon of water. The lamb treat made a flavorful gravy that stuck to every piece. She gobbled up her food then licked the bowl. This is not how the treats were intended to be used but they are perfect for a food topper because they are so easy to break apart. She loves them as snacks too. The ingredients read: Lamb liver that's it. No additives, no preservatives, no fillers, no grains The perfect doggie treat. I also appreciate that the treats are made in the USA.
These look like excellent quality treats.
