One word for you - Winter. Blah!

I'm tired of the winter boots and cold toes and soggy mittens, 30 layers of clothing, taking 20 minutes to get me and the doodles geared up for a simple walk, and cleaning up after wet doodles and standing in the dog park throwing a ball when it's -20 and going out for a potty break at 11pm when it's -25 and I was already in my pajamas, and scraping ice off my car and traipsing through big dirty slushy puddles and picking up poop in the snow and all of it. One day it's -25 and everything turns to ice and the next it's -4 and everything turns to slush. I just had to remove my gloves and use them to clean off the salt that was burning Winston's feet and making him refuse to walk. I actually put my gloves on his feet like boots so that we can make it the rest of the way home. I thought I was going to get frost bite.

I've had it! It's time to cash in those vacation days and head south!

During the winter months I get SAD. No, not the emotion, the disorder. Seasonal Affective Disorder. It's real, I promise you. And thanks to the cold weather and lack of sunlight, I am one unhappy chick right now. All the vitamin D in the world isn't going to snap me outta this winter funk.

I don't have much money, but unless someone can tell me of a really good, but really cheap, doggie friendly vacation spot down south where I can drive my doodles to, then I might just have to splurge on a week in Cuba. All I know is that I need to get out of this cold dark icy, then slushy, then icy again, dreary city and all the stupid frustrating rigamorale that goes with winter and soak up some sunshine!

BLAH! ok, rant over. seriously, any suggestions for doodle friendly vacation spots down south?

**** And another thing! How's a girl supposed to snag a guy when she looks like this?

ooohhh, cowboys!

Oh Sherri, I hear ya !!!  but for some starnge reason I happen to like the cold weather and live in NJ.  I saw your post about the salt on your doodles paws.  I also walk my doodles in all kinds of weather, this year I brought Musher's wax for their paws.  It prevents them from cracking, burning and is a overall protectant.  I have not used it yet but from what I understand it is good for hot weather and coold weather and also prevents the snow from balling up in between the pads.  As I said I have not tried it yet so I can't say it works or not but its cheap, you may want to try it.

I hope you find a nice warm sunny spot for you and your doods :)

I just checked out this picture you added.  I think the 'look' adds an air of mystery (guys loves it).  I know nothing turns my husband on more than when I don my almost floor length--I am somewhat height-challenged--periwinkle blue (only color that Land's End had on clearance in my size) down coat.  Watch out, Victoria's Secret, we might be on to something, Sherri.

The weather is SO weird this week, I second that Sherri!

I  look about the same as you when I go out with the dog, but I wear splash pants over my pants instead of leggings under.  I also wear a down feather vest under my ski jacket.

I agree you should drive with the doodles down somewhere warm!

The door is ALWAYS OPEN at hotel Cunningham.  Just let me know when.  Doodles welcome - kids - not so much - lol.  It has been in the low 80's upper 70's with it getting cool in the evenings.  Beautiful

Be careful what you say Jane. Your house might turn into a doodle hotel!

according to google maps you are a 27 hour drive from me. Assuming I drive the speed limit that would take me at least four days with the doodles. I could make it to South Carolina in 3 days. Assuming I drive about 6 hours per day. That's still a lot. I never realized just how far north I am.

While I'm a firm believer in "getting there is half the fun", I don't have that much vacation time banked. I might have about 10 days max.

This is a very familiar look, Sherri.  I don't even care how bad I look at this point.  You know what I hate the most...."hat hair".  I blow dry my hair every morning....and that takes a while.  Then out we go to walk the Doods, and I put the hat on.  That's it for the rest of the day....flat hair that is so electrically charged that it looks like I just stuck my fingers in the outlet.  I need Spring.  It's not normal to live like this.  No fenced yard here either....so lots of walks.  Guinness had a "pee accident" while ringing the potty bells the other day because it was taking DH so long to get all his "gear" on.  I'm thinking about eight more weeks of this frigid nightmare here.  Oh, and I LOVE your boots.

I know! The staticy hair thing is frustrating. My hair usually stays in a pony tail all day.

thanks, re; the boots. I think they were a good investment. particularly after sophie chewed up my old ones.

Put a small dryer sheet in your hat.  It works

ha! that's cool! but my hair will smell like laundry.

Awesome picture! You are very brave to post it! You are a good doodle mom. Hope you can get some cheer ditto on everything you said including SAD. Cheer up!! Chloe's a chick magnet when DH has her doesn't that work the other way around too??
