Dog Vitamins and Fish Oil

I was wondering if any of you give your doods vitamins, we know a couple of Cattle dog who's owners swear by them and my SIL gives their dogs a Fish Oil capsule every day.

What are your thoughts?

It's a human supplement. I don't know if Walmart sells it, I buy it at the grocery store. If a store does carry it, it will be in the vitamin section.

You can also order it from Pilgrim's Pride on-line, their prices are very good. But it's not terribly expensive to start with. Buy the 500 mg. softgels.

Do you give one 500 mg softgel a day?  I'd like to begin both of my dogs on these.  My non doodle is 41 pounds, and Pebbles is 59 pounds.  Do you give by weight of the dog?  When is the best time to give it, say with a meal?  Thanks for the info.

You mean Puritan's Pride? I get EPO and some other things from them. They are always having super deals like buy 2, get 3 free. I give Calla 3 of the 500 mg pills and Luca 1 daily.

What is the Mg/weight ratio to determine dose?

Minimum dosage is 500 mg per day regardless of weight, and the upper dosage is 1500 mg. per day, at least according to JD's specialist's recommendations.

I give 500mg tablets EPO to each once a day plus a fish ol capsule. Wasn't going to buy anymore fish oil as they are mostly getting a fish based food, so maybe I can buy 1000mg EPO and give one a day. Sound about right?

Think I will. Actually I'll give another 500 mg tonight and see how they adjust and then start giving 1000 once a day and see before I order 10000 mg caps. Once again thanks for the advise.

I just started giving both my boys EPO about two weeks ago.  Silly boys, they think it is a treat and they just  gobble down their capsule after dinner like it was a cookie :)
