Hi everyone,
Just wanted to share a couple of pictures of Cooper. We picked him up yesterday and he's been doing well. He cried for over an hour last night but finally settled down. He was up and ready to go at 5:30AM. Of course when he woke up at midnight he was ready to play. I am hoping it gets better as time goes on.

Cooper looks just like Lucca, of course - they're brothers!! You were right. It was hard to choose. Little Lucca is exhausted and sleeping under the kitchen chair. So far he has met one of the cats and my son's girlfriend's 90 lb golden, Ben. He seems to be taking it all in stride. Hopefully the night will go ok. Good luck on your 2nd night!
He's so cute! Makes me want to get another for Ruby to play with... The first few days are rough, but my best advice is to keep them in the same room as you while sleeping and also put a ticking clock in the room nearby. It sounds like the mother's heartbeat. It really calmed Ruby down those first few weeks. Good luck!
Hi Jenny - Thanks for the advice! We have Cooper near our bed and he can see us. He seems to be settling down a bit better in his crate. He slept great last night, hopefully he'll keep it up!
Karin:

Oh! He is sooooo cute! I remember when Kachi looked just like that when we brought him home in April. They grow sooo fast. Congratulations!
Thanks everyone for your kind comments!

Carla - Lucca is adorable! He does look so much like Cooper. How did the first night go? 2nd night was better but it's hard to tell if he really needs to go out or if he just wants out. He definitely wants to play when he gets up in the middle of the night, he's a madman! I really want my nice sleep back.

Jenny - thanks for the clock suggestion. A neighbor of ours owns a pet food store and recommended that as well. I really hope we get the hang of the nighttime thing, that's what I'm really worried about. Any other words of wisdom? Thanks!

Liza - Shelly mentioned that Cooper might end up looking like Kachi. She said Kachi is one of the popular ones from the website! You can definitely see why :)
Hi Karin
I did what Shelly suggested - 6 hours. He slept from 11:30ish thru to 4:45. I heard him cry and got up but it was too late. He had already peed in his crate. We took away the water earlier tonight. I'll probably get up at 3 to let him out and see what happens. I have a baby video monitor that I used last night. We tried to wear him out tonight. We'll see if that works. I know how you feel about sleep. My kids are older. I haven't done this in years. He did have his check-up today with the vet and is in great health.
OK, I'm totally jealous! Cooper tends to crash heavily between 6 and 8 which we are trying to avoid. I think that's affecting his nightime sleep. Last night he was up at 10:30 (couldn't get him to go pee before he fell asleep), 2:30, cried at 3:30 (ignored him) and up at 4:45 when my husband gets up. He also is a complete devil in the morning. Extremely hyper and ready to go. My girls wear him out pretty well but I really need to him to start sleeping better at night. I guess the crying is tons better so I shouldn't be totally complaining! Hope your night went well!
How nice of Shelly to say that! And I also believe Cooper will look a lot like Kachi because he looks just like Kachi did as a pup! From your photos, their fur(hair?) looks the same to me. Is it really thick and soft? Karin, he looks so precious! It kind of makes me sad that Kachi grew so fast! But of course, now there is just that much more to love- like ALOT more! And don't worry, he'll be sleeping well in no time.
His fur is thick and soft like Kachi's looks. Cooper slept from 9:15 to 4:45 last night - woohoo! I am hoping we can keep on this path but realize it won't be this good all the time.
Congratulations on your new doodle! Cooper is absolutely adorable! Reminds me so much of Toby as a pup. Our Toby is from the March 4, 2008 litter of Tula and Micah. Very spoiled, and very challenging at times, but worth every minute of it! Kachi is Toby's brother. Good luck with your training and welcome to the site!
Thanks Debbie! Toby is adorable. How great that Kachi is his brother too. Challenging is definitely the word! Thanks for the congrats and the welcome :)
