Finally, after two agonizingly long years of unemployment, my DH was offered a postion in Boston! I am going home to the East coast, a dream I have had since we moved to MN. Nothing against MN, but I missed my friends and the coast terribly. He leaves soon and I will remain here with the children to sell the house--so not looking forward to that invasion of privacy but a necessary evil and my eye is on the prize.
So, all you Bostonians, we need to be close (less than 20 miles) to Boston center and I was wondering if you might have any suggestions about great towns for us to look into. So far, at least on the internet, I am looking at Hull, Lynn, Malden and Hingham. I am researching Catholic schools and, of course, I need a great vet, too. Of all the things to miss about MN, I will be losing an amazing vet/grooming/boarding group. :(
Thanks to all who listened to me bemoan our plight over the past two years. I appreciate the support!

Thanks so much fo the help. I am a hound on realtor.com and three other realty sites. I have all these houses 'saved' for when we go out in March to look around. I actually have houses 'saved' in Malden and Framingham. I am so excited I could burst!
in Harvawd Yawd and go Bruins!!!!!
Congratulations. I know you must just be over the moon excited to have this terrible time come to an end. Hope all goes well with the selling of the house and you get to move quickly. Like you say, just keep you eye on the prize. Selling can be trying at times, but just stay involved. My advice is don't just count on your Realtor to do all the work. Find a Realtor that will stay in constant communication with you. With each showing find out how it went, what the comments were. See if there is any sort thing you are hearing repeatedly and if so jump on it and fix it! Start now getting rid of the clutter. Minimize everything. Make that house look huge and clean. Stay ready to show at a moments notice (I know hard with kids and dog) but just do your best. We spent 17 months on the market in FL. I watched the market like a hawk. I knew my competition, I made the Realtor send me reports on what was selling so I could see how we stacked up. I made them follow up with each and every showing to see what the comments were and then follow up with me. We had well over 100 showings in that 17 months. We kept coming in as the 2nd choice. I'm not sure who was happier the day the house sold, them to be rid of me, or me to be leaving FL. I'm 100% convinced if I had not stayed on top of it the people that bought it would not have come back when they did. The had looked twice and then we got an offer. I made the Realtor call to tell their Realtor we had another offer coming in. That offer fell apart and was shortly followed by that couples offer.
woo hoo! Congratulations...I am soooo happy for you and your family :) I don't know anything about living in Boston but do know I love to visit!
We are two of a kind. I follow the market like a hawk, know all my competition (and my house is not even on the market yet), have already started de-cluttering and de-personalizing. We sold our house in CT in 11 weeks (with four children but no Phoebe at the time) and I know my realtor did his best not for the commission, but to get rid of me.
Good Luck!
Congratulations, glad to hear things are looking up. Good luck with selling your house and finding a new one.
