HGE??(Hemorrhagic Gastro-enteritis)

I am so upset right now, I can barely see the screen through my tears. My beautiful Jaxon has been having diarrhea for a couple of days, and then started vomiting last night. I decided to take him in to the vet, and am so glad I did. There was a lot of blood in his stool/rectum and the vet has kept him in to give him IV fluids, antibiotics and anti-nausea meds.  I just feel so sad, helpless, and hoping and praying he is going to be ok.  The vet said it was probably something he ate and called it "hemorrhagic gastro-enteritis", but wants to treat it aggressively.  Has anyone had any experiences with this. Of course I had to "google" it, and have scared myself half to death with all the "could-be's".  After calling my hubby my first thought was to come on DK and get some support. Thanks ahead of time. My other 2 doods are feeling my sadness too....

Thanks everyone for your support...it really means a lot. If you don't own a doodle...you just don't understand!  I think people think I'm that "one doodle shy of being the crazy dog lady"!  (I have 3!), but they are my world (my DH and kids too! haha), but you know what I mean.  I am just devastated with him not being here tonight. The other 2 are blah as well! I'll keep you posted, and I hope everyone follows their gut instinct when their beloved pooches are sick and seek medical attention. It could make the difference.

I'm so glad you told us you would keep us posted. We really do want to know how Jaxon is doing. I'm so glad to hear that you have a good vet who is approaching this aggressively. We do love our doodles and we understand how scary it is to have one suffer in any way. I hope you sleep well and wake up to find Jaxon is well on his road to recovery.

I am sorry to hear that Jaxson is sick and hope he heals quickly.  Camus had a severe case of gastroenteritis, the cause was never determined.  It took about a week for him to recover, but it was a full recovery.  I hope Jaxson does as well.

Poor baby :(  I hope he gets better real soon.  I always get so worried, my two doodles are always picking up something from the back yard and eating it.  I would vacuum my backyard if I could !!!   Sasha loves the itchy balls (spiky balls that fall from the tree) arrrggghhhh, those are her fav.   Before I let her out I always scan the back yard and pick all of them up !!  Oliver loves dirt !!!!  They both have had their bouts of the poops.  Sending doodles hugs your way.
