Rescued Dog Bites NBC Anchor
Anyone else read this article today? Thoughts? I read this article and I really felt for the rescued dog. This is a dog that had experienced a traumatic event the day before and was immediately thrown into another unfamiliar situation. Now the dog is being held in quarantine for 10 days. I agree that this was a sad occurrence and that poor judgment was used. The dog had just had one trauma, the rescue. Then imagine the lights and commotion of a TV studio. The news anchor getting so close to the dog and putting her face next to his was also a bad idea. Although I feel sorry for the owner getting cited for this I wonder why the dog was loose the day before to get in his predicament to begin with. Sad really.

I just saw this too and was going to post it--I am very relieved to see that the canine behaviorist was quoted in the article as saying that the anchorwoman did everything wrong--I'll say!! And I am glad that they didn't note how much this dog looks like a pit bull--or call him that incorrectly-- Overall, they are taking a positive approach to a horrible event. It brings back very bad memories---my Wheaten terrier bit my sister-in-lawin the face when she did the same thing to him. Never put your face in the face of a dog you don't know!!

I thought everyone knows not to go up to a dog that does not know you and touch their face or head! Chloe will freak out-this kid in our neighborhood came up to her and grabbed both her ears and she let himknow he better stop DH pulled her away. Dogs do not trust everyone especially after the trauma. I think it's a sad situation all around and that he should not have been on the show the very next day and they should not get down on the floor and do that anyway. I'm glad she is ok-I do feel for the owner and the dog.

I don't feel sorry for the owner one bit. He owns a Dogo Argentino, which are actually banned in many countries, and does not keep the dog in his control. Letting that dog walk around loose is like letting your pet tiger walk around loose. I do feel a little sorry for the woman who was bitten; this happened while she was doing her job, she didn't just go up to a strange dog on the street. She was clearly ignorant about how to behave around dogs, but i also think she may have just assumed that if her bosses arranged for her to do this interview and be in close proximity to this dog, it must be a safe situation.
Who I really feel sorry for is the dog.
