I was throwing the tennis balls around for Luca. Calla has little interest in them but occasionally she'll catch one thrown practically into her mouth, if she's in the mood. I had my camera and decided the only way to get some pictures would be if I put the ball somewhere and got the story.

Despite my pointing he was confused at first:Eventually he caught on:

Then he managed to really get it:

But this is how he usually looks outside when he's not shredding a stick:

So I was wondering if this is part of the reason he gets so much less tartar than Calla. She will chew on a bone or antler sometimes. But we've had discussions on the abrasiveness of tennis balls. Maybe there is just enough chewing versus too much. Tennis balls are not allowed in the house so Luca's chew time with them is limited. All in all this was something to do because we are a bit stir crazy here : )

We have the same rules here but Luca will sometimes lie down to chew in between fetching.

This is exactly what Winnie does. It can get really annoying, especially for poor Sophie, who really just wants to fetch and retrieve over and over again. These two have developed such a tennis ball addiction that they are becoming completely anti social in the park. Sophie has started chasing off other dogs who try to get in on the game. :(

"Anti-social" in the park is a good thing. Trust me on this one. When your dog just goes to the dog park to exercise and has nothing to do with the other dogs, you're spared any kind of drama, dogfights, etc. I love that JD ignores other dogs at the forest preserves!

Love the sequence of photos!  And that nose in the last photo! Coloring is similar to Jack's. I give you credit for going out on a freezing day. Not much help on the tartar theory, Jack loves his tennis balls, but they generally stay outside. No tartar, but he's only going on 9 months old.

Tree Hugger! Cute Pics.

Ours have NO interest in tennis balls. They would rather try to eat mulch, dirt, grass. etc.

Unless...Myla SEES her RED ball! She will run with it all day (and never lose it) if we let her!

These are great pictures-tree climbing, you guys need to get out more often LOL!

He wasn't really climbing, just on his tiptoesclaws.

There was no tennis ball used in the taking of the doodle tree bee!

OMD how did he get in there???

And how did he get out??? We need to know the rest of this story!!!

I will add some more pictures in the photo area. It was a day in the bush and a dead racoon was found that had inhabited that tree at some point.

Looking forward to that and the explanations.
