Just in case anyone hasn't seen it, here is a link to the website with the information about the ALD name change. :-)

How funny. Not long ago she was touting Australian Companion Dogs a sthe name I think. Maybe she and mom have reconciled.

So maybe this site will be renamed Cobbadoodlekisses??

Nicky, that sounds like "Cockadoodle Kisses!"

LOL : ))))

I have one of Patty's dogs and she is a mini Australian Labradoodle.  Not a cobba whatever.  I don't want terrier of any sort in my dog.  My dog is just fine the way she is!!

Currently born ALDs are still ALDs. I think this is actually a marketing ploy because Rutland Manor was exposed as a puppymill and Beverly was exposed as breeding stock that was less than stellar and not keeping records. I think she is illusioning herself that she will be able to fool people again as she once did. CobbaDogs supposedly have Soft-coated Wheaten.

This is not meant as a diatribe against ALDs and NOT a slur on them.  I have one. Mine is American born but still.....  I just think that the lady has developed mental problems (which is quite sad) and thinks she can change perception.  To be honest I like the CobbaDog label better than Australian Labradoodle.  Cobber seems to be an Australian slang term for friend or mate, so I assume that is the origination of the label.

Yep, I like the CobbaDog label also and actually used it today.  I was just leaving on a walk with my dogs and this biking couple asked what type of dogs they were.  I told them Groucho Too was a Phantom Goldendoodle and Harpo was a CobbaDog.  They said they were trying to breed some mini labradoodles because they had a labrador and a neighbor had a miniature poodle.  I told them that was not a good idea and they should leave the breeding to breeders.  There are too many problems that can occur.  Finally told them that if they spay and neuter all their puppies they could get some pets, but don't try to sell them an mini labradoodles.

If Australian cobbadog takes off as a name--maybe we in the US need to think of something new for our multigen american LDs--it is so confusing to tell people that my dogs are not the product of a lab and poodle but two labradoodles--they look at me like I have two heads--let's get creative and come up with something!

Cobba comes from the slang australian word for "friend" or "buddy"--so she is still using the idea of Companion in the name--hmmm, maybe American Buddydog! Or American Poochpal. LOL!

This has been discussed in the main forum about 2 weeks ago.

Thanks, Andy&Sharon, for posting this link. I think it was a good discussion, and it's important to know what the term means in American slang.

This is an interesting discussion.  As a consumer, I found it extremely time consuming to research this breed and learn all the ins and outs of it.  Fortunately, I found a puppy that had the temperament and coat I was searching for and he was called an ALD.  You can call Kramer whatever you want...I'm keeping him! This is The B.E.S.T. dog I have ever known!

Do you know why I know my dog has Australian blood?  He bounces around the house like he's a kangaroo!!
