Scary scary encounter

Sadie and I were just on a walk when, about two blocks from our house, a big black bully dog of some kind came tearing across the street, dragging a rope behind it that was tied to one of those big metal screw-anchor things, and the dog just went after Sadie. I tried to pull it off of her and hang on to Sadie at the same time, screaming at the dog to stop it, and I finally just started yelling "Help!" at the top of my lungs. I don't know why I didn't think to kick it in the head. This all happened very fast. The owner came running across the street and grabbed the dog, and apologized, and wanted to make sure we were OK, and I checked Sadie all over for cuts or bites and said we were, and then I walked home, because I was so freaked out I could barely speak. I just checked her out again, all over, and she seems fine. I am clearly still traumatized and my throat is raw from screaming. Your thoughts on what I should do next, if anything, are most appreciated.

My ex-husband and our two (now passed on bulldogs) were attacked in our neighborhood while on a walk by two pits that were hunting. I am not disparaging pits -but because of the breed - one had a grip on my ex's upper arm and did not release. They were going after the two dogs, and my ex tried to intervene. To make a long story short - a neighbor finally heard his screams and had to hit the dogs over their heads several times with a large rock to get them to release. Our dogs had a few minor cuts, some road rash and one cut that needed to be closed with a staple. My ex ended up with a torn rotator cuff that eventually needed to be surgically repaired. After that, my ex bought us both stun guns for when we walk the dogs. This was over 7 years ago, the memory has faded and I no longer carry the stun gun, but for a while I would not go out with the dogs without it.

Just reading this started me shopping for a stun gun!! OMD! What a terrifying experience!
