We are on a wonderful vacation but Oh how I miss my baby!!! I knew those on this board would relate.
Sophie has had the luxury of being cared for in our home by our friend/ employee. Our son has also come home both weekends from his college
to be home with her. I think people think I'm nuts! Here I am on this fabulous vacay and I'm a bit sad, missing my
pooch:)

You are not alone !!!   I miss my doodles something awful when I have to travel, its like a part of me is missing.

Exactly!! That's it:(

I totally get that.

We don't even get to go any anywhere cause we don't know what to do with Daisy. DD has 2 dogs, one doesn't like my Daisy and my Mom is 75 and 125 lbs and she can no longer walk her as she broke her pelvis simply by sitting wrong.

Of courses their are others but I simply don't trust them to care for her like we do.

I was just told by a friend that she would be more than happy to stay at our house for a long weekend if her kids go to their dads (she said I would not want her kids at my house - ha ha, she is probably right) so we will plan a weekend away at least.

I know she could be boarded but I simply could not bare the thought of her missing us and being in a strange place. So home we sit.

Aww!! Maybe you could hire someone to come to your place?!

I understand, but I'm sure Sophie is doing fine.  Enjoy that vacation!

Thanks!! I wouldn't be as worried if we hadn't just lost her companion Ginger, our 10 year old Golden Retriever.

I understand completely.

That's why we don't take vacations! LOL!

I'm sure she's fine and missing you too but she is getting great care and company! You should feel good about that and enjoy yourself!

Yep...Definitely the down side to having a dog.  You can't go anywhere or if you do, you miss them like crazy & probably should just have stayed home anyway!  I'm dreading the first time we have to leave Bexter.  So sad that you'd actually dread a vacation!  At least he'll be home with my mom.  Not so bad.  I feel your pain.  Try to enjoy yourself though!

I know how you feel....First time I ever left Murph he was 11 months old and I went away for 10 days.  He stayed at his trainer/nanny's house and had an absolute blast.  Me?  I almost had a nervous breakdown.  It was in December and I even missed his first snow.  Now that I have 2 doods the trainer/nanny can't sit for them both in her home.  Sooo.....Wilson is 8 1/2 months old and I have never left them since we got him.

Enjoy your vacation and know that your doodle is probably having a great time and will be ready to cover you with kisses when you get home.

You are not crazy. You are in company of doodle lovers here. We went away for eight days. Our daughter picked us up at the airport with the dogs in the car because she knew how much we missed them. Sadly her car broke down and we were wondering what we would do to get home from the airport with two standard doodles, three people and luggage. Mercifully after a little tinkering, the car worked okay until two blocks from home. We were able to limp in from there. Phew.

We are going to take a short vacation next weekend w/o the dogs.  Just thinking about it makes me sad.
