Can you post a picture of the growth?
Thanks, I just posted a picture. It is the burr looking object just below her larger paw pad. Heading to the vet tomorrow as she started limping today and it seems to be bothering her more and more :-(
It might be a type of growth called an interdigital furuncle. A photo would be helpful, but you really do need a vet to diagnose this.
A furuncle is really an infection and would need treatment.
Thanks Karen. I just posted a photo and am going to the vet tomorrow.
Hope it's nothing serious. Keep us posted.
Two of my cats had the same problem years ago at different times. When I took the first cat to the vet, they performed surgery to remove the growth and found nothing in the biopsy. Several years later when i took the second cat to a different vet, he told me that my cat had cut on his pad and it would heal on its own which it did. I was so mad that I had paid over $400 for surgery on the first cat that I could scream. This may not be the case for your puppy but I wanted to share the experience that I had. Let me know what your vet says.
could it be fur? Cooper once got a mat between her pads - a mix of tangles fur and clay from the road... it was hard to cut out, and now I keep her fur really short there
Sadie also sometimes gets mats between her toes that I have to remove for her--especially when the weather here makes the ground muddy.
Thanks to everyone for the good thoughts and advice. Here is a picture of her paw with the growth. It looks a bit like a burr just below her middle paw pad but it is definitely a growth. Today she started limping and trying to use it as little as possible so we are headed to the vet tomorrow.
Good luck at the vet, I hope it's something easily treated.
