Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hello all! I'm new to the group so I apologize if my question has been posted before. I just took my doodle out to go potty and when he finished, he slipped in the snow. He bounced right back up, however he yelped when he slipped. He walked back into the house just fine but he's yelped a few more times in pain since we've been inside.

There are no cuts and it doesn't appear that anything is swollen. My vet is closed for the night and I can't stand the thought of him in pain. Does anyone have any suggestions to make him comfortable until tomorrow morning?

How is your dog feeling this morning?

Hope he's feeling better this morning???

Just now seeing this.  Hope things look better this morning!  let us know.

I hope your dog slept through the night and is better today.

Cooper tried to countersurf the first week we had her. She knocked a cookie sheet to the floor. As she ran away she slipped and hurt her leg - she wouldnt walk on it, we thought it was broken. We panicked, I ran upstairs to get our neighbour to drive us to the vet - by the time we got downstairs she was ok. she limped a little but she was ok

BTW she has only ever countersurfed one other time!

I'm happy to say Hurley is doing very well. The Vet said he more than likely strained himself when he got up but scared himself more than anything. He wants me to keep an eye on him the next 24 hours and if there is any swelling or he seems to have any discomfort, bring him back in.

Thank you all for the well wishes and great support!!!

Just saw your post, sure hope your doodle is feeling better today. FYI  in case you have another situation like this. Benedryl the over the counter pill type, is perfectly safe to give your dog, even puppies. It will help to calm them down, if you want to keep them a little quiet while they heal. Also works if they get scared for whatever reason when they go to the vet, or groomer etc. Vets recommend it all the time when someone calls after hours with an emergency or until they can get to the vets office.

Thanks Karen!

Make sure you get plain benedryl in pink box without decongestant meds!
