Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Interesting article I found posted on another forum about dog food & notifying consumers of ingredient changes

Thought you might have an interest in this. Kind of scary that they do not have to reveal changes for 6 months. A good reminder that you should always be mindful of creating options just in case.

Thanks Dianne for your continuing dedication to provide the best foods for our wonderful dogs. Blessings!!!
Unbelievable! Thank you for sharing this info. I think I'll subscribe to the author's newsletter.
Dianne....I have a weird question for you regarding my Kodie girl.......I believe...that since she has been on Orijen only...she has developed a taste for paper and bark....? She is on a mission to consume all paper products....and, eat bark likes it's pizza....? Is this odd behavior..? Is she hungry..? or, is she lacking some sort of carbs in her diet...? help....!
Hmmm. There are both white potatoes and sweet potatoes, so there are carbs (I am looking at the 6 fish, but I am sure the rest are comparable). Let me do a little digging and post back. Are you supplementing with some canned? Which one?

Just be glad that she did not choose the same bark Macy went for. You see Macy developed a fondness for the limbs on our cassia, also known as casia 'senna' ~ senna being a popular laxative, oh yeh ~ it was a blast! Incidentally we we on either Canidae or Blue Buffalo when this occurred, so I am guessing it is not a grain thing but something else.

Will be back in a bit, hopefully with some insights.

Blessings ~
Dianne, I am supplementing their dinner with a couple spoonfulls of the Wellness CORE canned meats...chicken, turkey,salmon.....They get a large spoonful of whole milk yogurt on their breakfast as well.....

The bark is bagged bark that is in my flower beds.....is that treated with anything that could be toxic..?

Thanks once again!
Marcia I think it is only the cocoa mulch that is toxic. However any mulch can splinter or become a problem if it blocks the intestines.
I am thinking Kodie gets hungry during the day, and looks for ANYTHING made of wood...maybe it feels her up? I am going to start an afternoon feeding for her, and see if it curbs the bark and paper eating.....
When I was out of town she ate about 6 magazines....not the staples..and, ate the papers out of my son Hunter's back pack....? When we tell the teacher "The dog ate my homework"...it's fairly accurate!
So, I have "doodle" proofed my home now, and have removed all paper products out of Kodie's reach....and, I watch her like a hawk when she's outside so, she doesn't eat all my bark.......I'll keep you posted!
Have a great week!
